I guess what i'm saying is that a lot of the things we expect out of whole hog bbq today were likely developed and passed along by african slaves.

Yeah my grandmother arrived in this country only speaking Swedish and was one of those people that really had a hard time losing it, like grandma nobody understands what the fuck you are saying because Swedish is not a language one goes around learning. I also concur weird food, get your salted black licorice!

Too long by about 500 pages but the story wasn’t too dissimilar from a few good ones (a spell of some kind falling over a town like Salem’s Lot or Needful Things), it was just caused by something different this time.

You got me back into it. I had a good 6 month stretch of reading other writers but now I’m 600 pages into The Stand.

On my nightstand I have Danse Macabre, Dolores Claiborne, Thinner, Gerald’s Game, The Dark Half, and Four Past Midnight.

Gonna do something totally different (All Quiet on the Western Front) next before getting back into it.
 
When I said whites, I obviously meant the 1780's definition. Southern Europeans don't count. French food highly overrated.

There used to a be a French style Japanese restaurant in my neighborhood run by a chef who trained under Iron Chef France from the original Iron Chef. It closed almost 10 years ago and I still think about it all the time. Family owned and run and they had these wonder $9.95 lunch specials.
