Totally Unofficial 2019/2020 Premier League Thread (NWT)

The anti-Liverpool asshurt around here is always cute and entertaining. I fully expect it from dv7 and Brasky - it’s part of their online caricatures. I guess I should welcome phan to the club.

Blame NBC's coverage. It's pretty annoying to any non pool fan. On Thursday it was all about Thiago's caressing the ball and how it's like he has hands for his feet. Today all about Curtis Jone's ELEGANCE and praising routine tackles.

I've watched 75% of City's matches this year (not a city fan) and they are top of the table and I don't recall them once getting nearly the same level of effusive and over-the-top praise.

West Ham aren’t much fun to watch. Probably explains phan’s bitterness.

imo it's been a pretty watchable year for the Hammers, all things considered

Lanzini and Haller had some cracking goals, Ogbonna's defense, Antonio's form, Benrahma's footwork

idk

being a Liverpool fan in the USA isn't too different from some dude from Minnesota being a big Duke basketball fan

They were a club in CRISIS until they weren’t

I’m willing to give Liverpool some slack on the announcer fellatio as they went 30 years without a title, that’s over half a Spurs drought.

And wake Forest message board poster Bob Niedbala has suffered patiently those thirty years, waiting for NBC to declare LIVERPOOL IS BACK

(No comment about spurs)

Apparently, today is the first time Spurs have send out a starting XI without an Englishman in it. Or something like that.

And that's the only notable thing that's happened.

I respect any American Liverpool fan who pre-dates like 2017 or so. I have a few friends that were Liverpool supporters back in the dark days post-Benitez years and the last thing I would consider any of them is a bandwagoner. I think it's similar with (barf) Spurs fans, they haven't won shit for decades so supporting them is not a bandwagon affair. Meanwhile, the true bane of our American PL supporting society is Chelsea and Man City (though I find it hard to hate City fans as there appear to be so few of them in America. And the all-time bandwagon club Manchester United is threatening to make a return to full bandwagon prominence so let's keep our eyes on the ball here.

Also, yes I absolutely was an Arsenal bandwagoner when I began supporting them. But I was 9 years old so everything in my life was bandwagon-y.

you are a better fan if you support a team who has been relegated, or even better, in or nearing administration

you are the best fan of them all if you support the worst team, the worse the team the better the fan

the better your team is at any given time, the worse a fan you are

hope this clears things up for everyone

currently i am a better fan than wakephan09, on live table anyway (nice work, chelsea, everton and spurs fans!)

but wakephan09 still better than dv7 or worse, deacman

I don't think anybody supporting e.g. Fulham or Reading should ever be compared to a bandwagoner.
Unless they only started following Fulham after the 2010 europa League final...bandwagon!

Post Exams! Woohoo!

Naw, what's important is how good the team was when you STARTED supporting them.

Ooh, the dark days when Liverpool finished...sixth, eighth, seventh, and second.

(And was runners-up in a league cup and an FA Cup)
