I'm pumped about taking the boy (and his potential sibling) to Disney someday too. But only if Dad gets one day to drink his way around the world at Epcot.

Six days ? Holy shit, you're going to lose your mind.

Priciest aspect is definitely lodging. You might want to take a trip out to the beach or Gatorland one day.

Same. I've been putting away $50 bi-weekly for a few years. I forget it happens; it just auto-draws into a 'way to save' account. It's up to $4k now. By the time TinyBaby (who is now 16months old) is ready for a Disney trip, there should be a pretty good chunk in that account to let us do it in a way where we can stay at a hotel on the monorail, do all the experiences, etc. We're going to have to balance a trip with a toddler/little kids (if I can convince my brothers to come too, with their kid(s)) and teenagers (stepkids). I'm honestly looking forward to it (minus the part about paying for 5+ people).

I dig both G and Ts and martinis, but I find my vermouth goes bad before I ever finish a bottle.

I should pick up some vermouth soon.

Do you keep it refrigerated?

Are you supposed to?

yes, but like other opened wine it has a short shelf-life

Learned something new from the chat thread. I've never had what tasted like bad vermouth in a manhattan (only keep sweet on hand - I don't think I've ever made myself a martini at home), but I'll move my vermouth to the fridge from now on. Also, maybe that is a sign I drink way too many manhattans, such that I go through vermouth without it going bad left in the liquor cabinet.

Lest I be misunderstood, I prefer to vacation in nature. Preferably far from masses of people. I can only coerce the family into so much camping in a year.

This. My wife is pushing so hard for us to buy a camper or at least a pop-up right now. I don't understand the issue with a tent.

Anyone use/own the constant targeted ad I get, a chirp wheel? The cracking back sound seems so satisfying but also seems like a scam especially since it was on shark tank.

I have them; they were especially helpful after having a bebe.
(of note: they were a gift. I likely never would have bought them for myself, but I am not disappointed to have them.)

My wife isn’t pushing but has made no secret of the fact she would like a camper.

She grew up RVing with her grandparents (who raised her from 6th grade on). It’s important to her that is a part of our son’s (and soon to be daughter’s) lives.

my wife also has mentioned the idea of renting a camper. i'm like no fucking way. that sounds miserable. you can do that with grandma.

If I told my wife that I bought/rented a camper/RV, she would tell me that she genuinely hopes I have fun with the 3 kids on our trip.

Because she is sure as shit not going along with us.

BEARS!!!! Bears can claw through tents, but have problems with metal.

Drank around the world for a buddies 21st birthday when we were in college. Good times, real good times.

We also have them (covid impluse buy). They're pretty good at stretching out the back when I feel tight. The neck one doesn't seem to do much for me, but that could be user error.

man look at all this chatting.

We were gonna go to a vineyard in Pilot Mountain this weekend but they don’t allow kids and my wife is going all Karen about that policy.

pro tip - buy your own much better wine and sit in an adirondack chair. Any wine made in the Greater Mt. Airy/Pilot Mountain Metropolitan Area will taste like an oompa loompa pissed in a jar of six year old raisins.

Is there a better sign you’ve made it to the Upper Middle Class than not hesitating in buying a Fast Pass?

I’ll also nominate upgrading to a hotel suite when you travel.

upgrading to business class to europe is def on this list.

which is why universal studios > disney, can buy your way to the front of the lines consistently FTW

oh HELL yes. We were there over christmas and the express pass saved us SO much time over the poors

LEEEEEEEEEEBS

Just get the Amazon Basics foam roller for $19. It's the perfect firmness for me and promotes excellent back cracking 98% of the time. Only problem is, I like it so much I'm borderline addicted to it to the point we've ordered one for my parents' house, my in laws' house, our best friends house, etc. If I go more than 2 days without one, I get cranky.
