Official 2020-21 NBA Finals - Milwaukee Bucks win the NBA Championship!

In the least surprising vote ever, LaMelo won ROY.

Townie, I'll give you Terry Rozier straight up for Ben Simmons right now. You get an actual lead guard and we get the athletic center / rim protector we need.

Everyone not named Joel or Seth went 0 for 11 in the second half last night. What a lovely team to support, my 76ers.

if i never have to talk about ben again it'll be too soon.

the all-bench unit blew it again last night for the sixers. doc had to put the starters in with 10 min left in the 4th when they were still gassed, after the sixers were up 22 with 2 min left in the 3rd. i turned it off and walked around the block when joel missed the two FTs down 3 with 10 seconds left.

hawks deserve to win the series at this point, they've played a lot harder if not better.

this is the 2013 alcs all over again for my personal fandom. maybe cleveland state, for the humiliation factor.

Official 2020-21 NBA Playoffs - Playoff injuries and coach/GM firings

I’m just rooting for a CP3 vs John Collins finals at this point.

Obviously Duncan has his rings, but what other deacs do?

So..... looks like the Hawks won the Trae/Luka trade

comparing the last 3 years they are very close in stats. Luka probably edges Trae out SLIGHTLY. But I guess you have to say Trae kinda of carried ATL in the playoffs. Luka tried but couldn't.

Didn't JoHo get 1 with Dallas?

Josh was the 3rd leading scorer and 2nd leading rebounder on Dallas in 2006 when the Mavs won the Western Conference, but lost to the Heat (with Wade and an aging Shaq and Alonzo) in 2006. Howard was great in the playoffs that year (he averaged 19 ppg in the Western Conference Finals), until the finals. The Mavs traded Josh to the Wiz during the 2010 season. Even though JoHo was only 29, his body was done at that point, as Howard only played 72 games over the next 3 seasons until he retired (or stopped playing) after the 2012-3 season.

I think Rusty Larue got a ring with the bulls in the 90s

well the hawks have more talent than the mavs and have the advantage of competing against a doc rivers coached team

He did. He was on the 1998 Bulls, Jordan's last ring. He didn't play in the playoffs, but was on the roster. He was in the some of the clips from the 1998 season in the Last Dance.

Luka was 1st team all NBA this year (deservedly so). Trae Young is a good player, but Luka is clearly better.

Luka on the Hawks would be an even better team. Trae on the Mavs wouldn’t have made the playoffs at all.

Cam Reddish would have to became a starter. third option, and borderline all-star for that trade to be anywhere close to even.

yeah, i see luka as far more likely to be able to lead a championship team than trae.

i am curious about trae's stats since mcmillan took over though

This is from before game 5, but it does a really good job of breaking down the Trae PnR and its effectiveness against the Sixers

Not following all your logic here? Trae is a game away from the conference finals. Luka can't get out of the first round. Trae > Luka

Well Patrick McCaw won three rings in his first three years with two different teams so I think we all know who the true GOAT is

First statement is true, although I don't think the ceiling goes up. Luka replacing Trae doesn't make this Hawks team better than the Bucks/Sixers/Nets IMO.

I disagree with Trae replacing Luka missing playoffs, but whatever.

Statement about Reddish takes it too far. Getting a starter-quality 3&D wing is enough to make up the gap between the two guys IMO (top 5 player to top 15ish player in the league)

I still think the Mavs have won the trade a this point. But the fact it is an argument speaks well of Trae.

At the end of the day, I think it will take some time to unpack. As has been mentioned by a few posters already, the fact Trae plays in the East and currently has a more talented roster matters. But Trae is proving in these playoffs he is legit.

I think a lot of it in the long run will depend on how Luka cares for his body and his durability. If he manages to stay healthy in the league any decent amount of time, I dont think it will be close. But nice thing about Trae is even as he ages he can aways be a spot up shooter.

d14, im not quite as sold on Reddish as you. But I dont think the Hawks have much to gripe at. They clearly figured out how to build around Trae
