Banning Critical Race Theory

Seems like we could use more of the junebug sharing his experience actually relevant to the conversation and less junebug trolling politics.

Agreed. Could use that more from everyone but he’s one of the primary trolls.

Gotta love how Junebug thinks academic work is about the "clicks." Dumbasses like him think it works the same on both sides. Just because The Federalist just makes up shit it thinks people will like doesn't mean academia works the same way.

Why do you think the colonists fought for their Independence?

Read the Declaration of Independence, all of it. (Then send a copy to Hannah-Jones.)

i have, have you?

grievances over self-governance and taxation policies doesn't necessarily equate to high minded principles. viewing it as some sort of Enlightenment Apotheosis is a lens just like CRT

I’m not sure what sailor is arguing over the Declaration of Independence. The fact that it doesn’t say “We are declaring our independence because we want to keep our slaves” is not the big gotcha that he must think it is.

Tucker Carlson went on one of his patented rants last night, urging that public schools install cameras in classrooms to ensure that teachers aren't teaching CRT. He admitted that he doesn't know exactly how widespread it is, but said that was one of the reasons why cameras were needed. He also called for "civilian review boards" in every town to oversee what teachers were teaching and to ensure they weren't teaching CRT (or whatever Tucker thinks it is.) He also posted an op-ed on the Fox News website in which he referred to the Teachers Union defending CRT, and said that teachers are "stupid" and that "your children are being taught by some of the most ignorant people in the country." At least Tucker isn't hiding his contempt for educators.

We have to go by the original meaning!

yes, of course, I have

the grievance list, at least, in form, is actually reminiscent of medieval estates' gravamina presented to the ruler at the meetings of the diets

the question was why did they declare their independence from Britain; seems like the Declaration of Independence is a good place to start because there they tell you why they are declaring their independence

the British anti-slavery movement did not have any political traction until after the War of Independence and would only achieve successes in the following century

I'll also leave aside the fact that the North, not the South, was the hotbed of the independence movement, not really sure how you can argue that the North was moved to declare independence from Britain so the southern planters could keep their slaves

I mean, the fact that references to slavery were expunged from the Declaration is a good place to visit. probably a politically expedient decision so the Southern states would sign on.

just a thought

Have you actually read the article from The Atlantic that debates the historical accuracy of some of the points of the 1619 Project ?

This line's a real banger

When one of the biggest human traffickers in the world writes “all men are created equal” and have inalienable rights, you’re dealing with an unreliable narrator.
