2021 Carolina Panthers Thread - Time for the 2022 thread

shaky half for darnold

but the 2021 draft looks good

A significantly percentage of the roster is going to be 2020 and 2021 draft picks and UFAs. Could be around 8-10 2021 guys and 5-7 2020 guys.

final darnold line: 19/25, 162 yards, 2 TDs no picks.

he wasn't actually as good as that line but we'd be losing our minds if one of the rookies put that up

Why do all the Panthers hats, like the ones Tepper and Darnold are wearing look like they’re from 1996

Agreed. The last drive was encouraging.

The roster is 2020 & 2021 draft picks and Temple and Baylor players.

That's not too far off. That may be half the roster.

QB
RB: Hubbard (R), Brown (R)
FB
WR: Marshall (R), Smith (R)
TE: Tremble (R), Ricci
OL: Brown (R), Christensen (R)
DE: Gross-Matos
DT: Brown, Roy, Nixon (R)
LB: Johnston, Fisher
CB: Horn, Thomas-Oliver III, Taylor (R)
S: Chinn, Robinson, Franklin
P: Charlton

I feel like that’s a pretty reasonable guess at 2020 and 2021 guys based on roster projections and what I've seen. That’s 9 rookies and 12 2nd year guys. I forgot Charlton was a rookie last year. And that doesn’t include 2nd year guys like Hartsfield and Miller.

This is why I don’t think 4-13 puts him in the hot seat. Tepper’s going to let him build something and demonstrated that with the long contract.

You may be right. I don't think he'd put a 4-13 season solely on youth though. Hopefully we don't have to find out.

I think Walker and Grier both make the roster. With Darnold's injury history and COVID, it makes sense to keep both to avoid having to get a backup off the street if Darnold gets injured. We also may see more teams keep 3 QBs with the additional game. Load management may become a thing in the NFL.

Agreed. I think the floor is higher than that. It's a young roster with a mediocre QB and a good young coach. Given you don't have SF 2020 number of injuries, I see a floor of 6 and a ceiling of 9-10. Vegas setting the o/u at 7.5 is about right. And some of that will depend on how good NO and Atl are. I think Atl is going to suck with that D, but NO is a hard team to get a read on. I wouldn't be surprised if they won 6 games or 11 games. And if you do have a ton of injuries, then you could luck into Howell or Rattler. And I've never watched a Liberty football game, but I'm going to have to check them out this year to check out Willis.

Minshew traded to the Eagles. Watson to Carolina confirmed

Looks like it’s between us and the Dolphins.

I’m fine with trading Darnold and 2 first round picks for Watson. I will not be happy if Burns or Chinn are part of the deal.
