That was more from other intel I got, I was pretty sure you were doing a relatively standard opening. But I also intentionally took a different tone this game than last, hoping that I wouldn't be so obvious in my communication who I was.
 
finally signed back up at playdiplomacy. would like to get in a game if you need another.

The pending game is 196874, although probably let the 7 that were already in play again? There is only one spot left. Idk about Toogs' novice game

haha ok, just protip yelling at a guy for maybe doing something you don't have any ability to stop is not typically a good way to get him to not do said thing.
PS I really did fuck up my open, although with G+E opens left us in great position to skullfuck England had I not gotten a spot of the narcolepsy
 
Also who was ENG, lol asking if you can put an army on the continent in 01. How to make G and F work against you 101
 
I love that the game pauses on Halloween but not on like actual holidays.

Again, I was trying something new since my previous game as Italy was not fun and I knew you likely weren't coming after me. And yes you are correct, I can't stop you from getting to West Med but I was on good terms with both Austria and Turkey and would have been able to move my units west pretty quickly if you had continued south.

Bit of a moot point though since you forgot to build units in winter 1901.
 
also I used to set an alarm to prevent what just happened to me/us, so will do that again. I'm usually up by 4 but slept in today, after passing out early. Again, humblest apologies.

Man, I was loving that start, especially after Toogs' wild ass move to the North Atlantic. Russia was about to be in trouble, England and France were gonna be fighting, I had no friction anywhere, and time to pick my spots.

Also, nice job down South Turkey getting Austria to do the dirty work of keeping Russia out of Rumania - after you had already started beef by moving to Armenia. I liked that move.

And Russia, moving Ukraine to Galicia instead of Warsaw probably would have sent me your way in force quickly. Before that, I was definitely going to try to help you out as much as possible to prevent you collapsing too quickly, but after that - and with France and Germany fighting - coming after you quickly was probably my best option.

Anyway, enjoyed getting things started again and look forward to the new one. Good luck all.

That was me. I hate playing as England. That stupid army does nothing and you basically have two units.

Hoop can say which way he would have gone had you not missed your build, but he let me in Belgium, so I don't think he was 100% on board with skullfuckery.
 
Yeah, England needs to get the army to the continent asap, and has the choice of angering Russia or France / Germany / both. I didn't want the army in BEL so I offered BEL on the condition you take it with a fleet, and then informed France of that offer - so he was going to be on my side if you broke the deal.

I was basically trying to have as good a relationship with both of you as possible, see who would be the most reliable ally, hope you two fought, and then pick my spots. Germany has the luxury of getting two builds while giving up SWE, BEL and not going to BUR as incentives for peace.

After France went to NAO (and Russia stayed in WAR), I thought I had the luxury of going after Russia and delaying fully committing to a side in the England / France war as long as possible. Germany can ally long-term with France or England, but has to fight Russia sooner or later, so thought I could get the jump on him.
 
To answer the question, I was leaning toward siding with France because England seemed more experienced / tactically competent and slightly greedy.

TBH I thought England was Toogs based on past games with him and thought France was a bit of a noob. :cool:
 
Yeah, I can't ever balance my comms properly as England. I know I need my army on the continent and everyone else knows it too. But no one wants to see it go there.

Funny enough, I really wanted to do a Russia/England alliance that game, but I got terrible vibes from France, so that nixed that plan.
