OK, I've had a night to sleep on it. And Dune is still really bad.

Both of my kids fell asleep mid movie. It was just horribly paced. The visual effects and world building felt cheap. Such a great cast wasted.
 
It felt like a bad movie that was a supposed to be good but a lot of good people vouched for it.
Should have known better when the director bashed superhero movies even though that’s where people know much of his cast.

I very vaguely remember Travis Spivey at Tech.

I have read the Dune books multiple times and will definitely go see the movie. I hate to hear this report - it seems like those books are just really hard to translate into a movie...
 
I’m glad I’m an early riser because my kids are not missing a sunrise at the beach. 80 at the end of October is fine though.
 
That’s the worry I’ve seen from people. So why not do a big budget show?

Am I a terrible person for hoping there is video of this Alec Baldwin incident? Just want to see how the gun fired twice. Like was it one right after another? Or more spaced out? Such an odd thing to have happened. I can't understand how he shot two different people.

Let me try again...

We have zero plans for the weekend for the first time in months now that the kids' sports seasons are over. Will probably take the family on a hike tomorrow somewhere we haven't been before. Definitely planning on watching the Deacs, but I'm pretty nervous about that one.

Chilling at home tonight with my son while my wife goes out with friends, will prob find a good movie to watch. Heading to Blowing Rock for the day tomorrow, will watch the Deacs at my in-laws. Heading to see Drive-By Truckers tomorrow night. Brunch with my mom, aunt and uncle Sunday.
 
I’m camping and hiking 20 miles with our scout troop tomorrow. Good times.

Just bought the boy the Dune series and planning to take him to the movie (maybe Sunday). He doesn't have school today so he will finish the book today or tomorrow (dude can put away some books).

Choosing to ignore what LK posted earlier.
 
based on the pre-hype there's no way Dune is good. i've already read two previews gushing about a bunch of bullshit worldbuilding and 'deep emotion'.

Unfortunately that one would be in February if it happens so I don’t think I’ll be seeing any of the world-renowned beaches.
 
Pretty low key weekend. We have dinner plans with friends tonight which blows because I would kill for a lazy Friday evening. Tomorrow watching the Deacs obv and going to dinner with my family for my mom’s birthday. Sunday doing nothing while the wife is off at a yoga class and brunch or some such basic white girl shit.
