I've never read Dune or seen the movie Beetlejuice but I DO remember the sand worms from the cartoon Beetlejuice
 
Also this school year has been a fucking bitch so far, and I'm so damn pumped to be 1/4 finished. I'm genuinely worried about the state of our public education system moving forward, being a teacher right now fucking sucks. Constantly dealing with distancing/masks, the student's academic and behavioral deficiencies, and being constantly short staffed does not breed success. If it doesn't improve it wouldn't surprise me to see half of the workforce leave.

I teach at a tough school but I'm getting feedback from teachers in other situations and its really rough this year for everyone. Nobody is happy.

Strange fact. A friend of mine met her husband because she liked his response to Alec Baldwin’s tweets about Sandy Hook. DMs led to cross country dating led to moving to her then moving back to him and getting married.

a good portion (8 of 40) of my college students just didn't take the midterm even though it was online and they had 5 days to do it

Yeah, my wife's definitely at a "not-tough" school and just from talking with her it seems like morale is just at an all time low right now. Hope y'all can stick it out.

yeah wife is a teacher in a v different environment (treatment center for teen girls) and it's no good
 
some of the juniors for ex. started school in-person - had to go home, learn to learn online for a year - then had to come back and do college in person lol

College-aged kids are struggling rn

I’m sure other groups are, too, but there’s about to be a thoroughly mentally fucked generation and higher Ed as an institution is doing nothing about it

Grad students too, man. I don't know how to help my students anymore. One of them is royally struggling and it is all emotional and mental stress, she is totally technically capable of doing the work, but she is just blocking her self from finishing. I really want to help but I don't know how.
