you're talking with real people who come here to talk about topics with wildy different importantance in wildly different registers (some estatic, some scared, some morose) so the idea that entertainment is your limit of understanding for this place's purpose is really fucking bleak dude

This is fair, but does Palma being Palma detract from anyone’s ability to inhabit the board in whatever register they approach it?

Also, the board is full of helpful, genuinely good dudes, and Knight is up near the top of that list, regardless of how many posts he makes about boning my mom.
 
Fwiw, rsf doesn’t post much here anymore, and while I’m sure he’s a killer dude irl, my perception of his board presence is consistently negative or judgmental. Plus dude was just downright mean as hell to Creamy in a mafia game, and only toogs can get away with that shit.

nah not really. he's tried to cancel me on the CT if I've posted too seriously about a topic but he's not like rj or something in terms of disruption

but the "this-board-is-a-place-for-me-to-escape-real-life" thing is so out of touch imo

Yeah, I often use the collective board bros as captive therapists so I get that.
 
You try to make the board experience to whatever you want or like it to be it shouldn’t need to be universal. Certain things obviously should not be allowed such as racist comments. With that said you shouldn’t get to dictate how other people approach the board, if Palma wants to use it as an escape so be it, if Mako wants to use it as a place to expand his moms business so be it, if Knight wants it to be fart jokes it is what it is. Nobody forces you to post, it’s not anyone’s job, the ramification of not posting are not that dire, even RJ has managed to live. If you can’t handle some aspect of the boards just don’t post, don’t bend the rest of everyone to your will because you don’t have the ability to handle a message board.
 
I use it as a place to ask questions I wouldnt feel comfortable asking in real life. Such as, does anyone else keep extra chick fila sauces in there fridge so that they can use on random assortment of foods? Chick fila sauce on a turkey sandwich, chick fila sauce and peppers, sauce and salad, etc. etc.

i struggled with taking this place too seriously for too long, most recently with the tunnels of all places

just gotta roll with the punches and try not to make it something it's not

My family keeps that Chick-fil-A sauce on hand. They actually sell it by the bottle at the grocery store.
 
I use the boards solely to guilt Townie into giving me free feedback on my shitty short stories.

i think the problem is that in order for even 'not serious' enjoyment to occur, you still have to sort of agree on a basic framework of behavior/expectation. being in a Tunnels or SB thread with people participating super seriously is fine if you'd like to as well but goofballs or Rj-self absorbed people can wreck a community experience pretty quickly, for everyone making every thread almost pointless.

I barely look at the sports board because there's no way for me to meaningfully engage over there.

probably why we can support three separate boards
