Totally Unofficial 2021/22 Premier League Thread (NWT)

So next weekend Everton will likely be without Calvert Lewin, Richarlison, Gray, Doucoure, Gomes and Davies.

It’d be nice to see some youth if we’re gonna get wrecked instead of Rondon and Delph and Gbamin

I think I’m probably done regularly watching us for a while after today. There’s really no reason to care right now. We will win nothing and not get relegated. Pure purgatory, just like most years.

Never really wanted Conte. Not that I doubt his brilliance or ability, but not sure he would have been right for the job right now. Wouldn't have complained if he was appointed tho! I'm sure he will do well at Spurs.

Ten Hag is my choice with VDS as the new DoF. Then buy Frenkie, play Donnie more, and sell Martial to Newcastle for whatever the Saudis want to pay for him.

Fair enough, ETH would be awesome as well

If the new manager replaces Maguire as captain I will 100% be Ride or Die with them, btw

So sick of that mediocre defender wearing the armband. He's not good. He's average.

I know Bailly hasn't be great but his upside is so much higher. If I supported United, I'd want to see him get a run of games.

I do and wish he wasn't made of glass

Hard to get a full run when you can't stay fit because a stiff breeze twists your knee

I defs agree on Bailly and Maguire. Maguire has been a massive disappointment. I wouldn't mind seeing a complete overhaul of the back 4, or at least a different system. AWB isn't good enough with his service to continually play that high up the pitch, and he needs to get better at locating the backside attacker. And they would be helped by a midfield that could, you know, hold on to the ball.

The stories are all over the place right now with respect to plans for a permanent hire. But if Carrick (who I loved as a player) is in the job for the rest of the season and not just for a short time, then this will continue to be a circus and will only get worse. The assistants have been carrying a big load in training already, so it's foolish to think that anything will change with one of those assistants in charge. The Board needs to decide who they want and pay what it costs to get him. If they can do that quickly, that would give that person a potential opportunity to start changing things up with the January window.

Spot on, wfudkn.

Identify the target, be that Poch or EtH or Zizou, and go pay them and their club whatever they ask for. Get this shit fixed.

Carrick shouldn't be the manager for more than 1, maaayyyybe 2, match(es).

didn't the club say whoever it is will be interim for the rest of the season?

They did but I'm hoping against hope that will turn out just to be a smokescreen.

If they did that then it will be Zizou on a short contract, I'm guessing, as he ultimately probably wants the France job post Deschamps.

Non-PL but the Seattle Sounders lost a shocker in the first round of the MLS playoffs to Real Salt Lake, who did not attempt a shot the entire match. Not a typo. No attempts. For 120 minutes. Their first kick toward net was in the penalty shootout. Ah, the beautiful game.

According to The Athletic, Ralf Rangnick will take over for the rest of the season at United then stay on as a consultant for 2 years.

That's not a bad choice and probably mean Poch or ten Hag are still set to take over permanently in the summer.

Hate that United appear to have done something competent. Setting up for his first game to be Arsenal at OT, fully prepared for a first half Ronaldo hat trick.
