Ongoing Dem Debacle Thread: Commander will kill us all

It seems he wanted to find a way for grandmothers taking care of their grandkids while their parents were unable to do so cause of drugs to be able to get the credit. Doesn't seem that unreasonable, neither is the $200k income cap. Seems like a Dem Debacle if they couldn't placate those two requests.

State School; SUNY. All I could afford.
Cost around $40K for 4 years.
Came out owing $15K in loans.
Fair amount of $$ in '73.

You could afford to pay $25,000 between age 18-22? You and I must have had different job opportunities in high school. It sounds like you had a nice support structure that helped you avoid a boatload of debt.

Also, if you came out owing $15k in loans in 1973, then you definitely could not afford SUNY.

It was fine but the fact is my Dad kicked my ass out of the house during my sophomore year (long hair) so I survived working nights and my Mom slipping me $$$ periodically.

Democrats probably should just take whatever deal Manchin might would pass for a few programs for the entire 10 year period just to get something and then fight for popular items in single small bills. I know they won't pass because of the filibuster but you need to continue bringing them up each week/month and force votes.

Democrats also need to get smart and play politics like Republicans. I would propose something like a bill getting rid of the federal gas tax, offsetting the revenue lost by raising the corporate rate a couple of points. Make Republicans vote against saving people 18cent a gallon because they don't want to raise the corporate rate to 23%.

Lol

Dems about to get outflanked on the left by the Romney childcare plan, which is better by some distance than BBB provisions

Astounding stuff

The Romney plan from early this year? Or does he have a new plan.

I'm sure 70 year old man appreciates your insight into his/his parents financial situation.

It’s sad and disappointing but not really surprising that BBB seems stagnant in a senate with the current makeup.

Manchin seems comfortable playing the part of disingenuous would-be noble saboteur.

I think the answer is to work towards electing more representatives from the party whut shows some inclination towards attempting to understand and address problems.

The utter degeneration of the Republican Party is the bigger problem IMO. Democrats shouldn’t try to imitate Republican strategies but yes, need to figure out how to win more across the board.

Ah the Breunigs. Hardcore social conservative/limousine cosplay urban socialists who both share such a seething hatred of the Democrats that they will twist themselves in knots to convince themselves that the GOP is "outflanking" the Dems to the left whenever anybody from that side panders to the working class economically.

Townie's pivot to "Fuck it, I'm with Romney now" was actually on my bingo card and, Bingo! I got Bingo!

The Democratic pragmatism and nuance coming through and just radiating off the screen right now
