She made what I thought was a series of dumb, unproductive comments about our team and so in admittedly petty fashion i suggested she Google a word she didn't know.

Maybe that's a bit dickish but it's kind of my regular thing on the boards to challenge somebody's dumb comments by pointing out they're trying to sound smart by using big words they don't know.

I didn't say anything personal to her despite her weird response talking about how hard her job is and how hard being a mom is like I implied anything about those things. Then she pulls out the "fuck you" in response to my general bandwagon post which was not directed to her.

Anyways, weird interaction. I get if you and LiquidKarma and DeaconCav are annoyed with the way I do that. I find it entertaining to watch people try to justify their behavior when they know they are wrong. It's the rare person who can just admit they fucked up, and it is usually comical on a message board.

On the other hand, I totally get the rage posting aspect of it as a way for you to blow off steam following a shitty game.

Sure, but you come off as a dickhead sometimes too (and you're even a mod). It's a message board and I feel like as long as it's not personal it shouldn't be a big deal.

though as I've mentioned a number of times it's actually pretentiousness that I'm responding to.

I know that I am pollyannish as a human being. And I see why that would anger someone who is genuinely frustrated by things like sports that are out of their control.

Nobody was responding to my earnest comments about the game, so I went trolling because I didn't want to read another thread of people trashing the team and the staff and other posters -- the very same people who three days later are back on the bandwagon.

Not my finest moment but also I didn't say anything that was actually mean or crude or anything

I genuinely try to keep it impersonal and just troll people who I think are trying too hard.

I'll admit that I'm not actually an equal-opportunity troll and I'll let things go if I like the poster or I agree with their politics or whatever.

But I also genuinely like talking about words and ideas and stuff and that's why I'm here. I generally listen when people say they are tired of hearing about shit.

Alright Mako, its time we talked about looking for a remote job with a tech company. You can live in affordable Randleman (?) and get paid the big bucks w/out moving to Chicago.
 
I once had to drink 9 smirnoff ices in an hour because I thought Bzz would win 9 ACC games in his first year. Woof. Talk about a lesson.
