Official US Soccer / World Cup '26 Thread (USA vs. Mexico 3/24 in Dallas)

I agree about the bad news about McKennie. But this team is still way more watchable than it was 3-4 years ago. I still think we make it.

I caught bits of the last 2 USWNT games in that she believes cup against extremely weak opponents (NZ had 3 OGs, and the Iceland women aren't in the same category as the men). I recognized very few of our players. Is this the youth movement we've been waiting for, or is this just introducing potential new names against a weak field?
 
I think it's the latter from what they were saying during the NZ game. Rodman's daughter was one of the marquee young players. She was injured in the NZ game.

Those 3 OGs were by the same player by the way. Unreal. They weren't quite fluky plays but you still felt bad for her.

Even more incredible, it was a perfect hat trick of own goals (right foot, left foot, header).

perhaps you knew this, but she actually plays for the Liverpool womens team (who have been inadequately supported and were actually relegated a year or so ago, although it looks like they will be promoted back this year)
 
After her second own goal the crowd started chanting "OWN GOAL HAT TRICK" clap, clap, clap clap clap. Brutal. And then she does it!

NWSL rookie of the year…as the youngest ever drafted player in NWSL. She’s ridiculous. One of the most exciting talents I’ve seen.
