Next year’s football team

Hey, I was just saying Wake has better receivers than the #1 team in the nation.

ESPN’s updated way too early top 25 from Mark Schlabach has State at 7, Clemson at 11, Pitt at 15, Wake at 17.

Completely understand that a preseason ranking does not include likely outcomes throughout the season and their affect on the polls, and correctly so. But for all 3 of NCSU/CL and Wake to end up in the top 17 at season's end, that means that outside the 3 division games between them, there's not much room for more than an additional loss/maybe two amongst their remaining 10 games on their respective schedules.

Questionable injury situations resulting in an injury timeout being given will now be subject to a reporting and investigation process.
"Schools and conferences will be able to report questionable scenarios to the national coordinator of officials, who will review and provide feedback to the conference for further action. Any penalties levied would be up to the conference office or school involved," Johnson wrote.

That's nothing unless the conference actually wants to curb fake injuries.

Suspend the player for the first half of the next game.

every injury should be tested like in the departed bar scene to make sure they aren’t a faking rat. if they fail make them sustain the injury they were just faking

In the interest of player safety, injuries that require an injury time out should require the player to go to the locker room for proper medical evaluation by a league provided physician. If necessary, perhaps a separate "medical evaluation" locker room would need to be established in each stadium.

Make it the series at a minimum and maybe the next.

Well, the severity of the injury may dictate the length of time for a proper evaluation. Can't imagine taking less than 10-15 minutes. Health of the athletes is important!

Some things you know good or bad very quickly, others do take some measure of time and assessment for safety.

Part of what I wrote above was tongue in cheek. It also was somewhat serious. If the player faked the injury, it will be more difficult to figure out what was "hurt" and then diagnose the severity of the "injury." By insuring thorough diagnostic work-up player safety would not be sacrificed for player availability. And teams might be more reluctant to have a player fake an injury if he will be in medical exam for many minutes of real clock time, not just one play, as currently required.

Yeah if you’re in enough pain to be on the ground with people tending to you, it’ll take more than just one play for you to be thoroughly assessed and in suitable shape to return to the field.

I'd call it the Cutcliffe rule. Duke has been pulling that nonsense for years.

That may be but it almost changed the outcome of the state game last year it was so bad. Duke may try it but it won’t really matter. State is a bunch of cheating fucking pussies. 45-42.

Well Alabama's WRs just got a lot better as a group.
