On An Airplane Next To A Fat Guy

Delta is my preferred carrier (see previous post about flying them or KLM to Amsterdam a lot). I used to fly Southwest a lot but don't any more. I've flown Allegiant from here to Vegas at Christmas and it was fine. We paid the extra $5 a seat to get the extra legroom seats, and since our son was between us we had plenty of space. They now have a flight down to the beach near where my mom lives that I'm going to take.

The bad part about allegiant is that if a flight gets cancelled for weather reasons (see, last month random snow saturday), they have so few flights back to AVL that the makeup flight ends up being 2-3 days away from your original.

When it works out though, it's pretty nice to have some decent direct flight options.

jackson hole is fantastic; never been to another airport where they have someone wrangling you to get you OFF the tarmac where people are taking pictures. I like Denver for the spaciousness, although it's stupid how far away from town it is. Chattanooga is a great small airport.

First time I brought some buddies out there, we landed in a massive blizzard. There was a cowboy handing out mimosas/bloody marys in the terminal. We had several while waiting for our bags.

First non-exit, non-C+ flight in a minute. So much poor around me. 2/10 do not recommend

Homer choice but Wilmington (ILM) is the best airport I've been through. I flew quite a bit for work for several years and very rarely had any issues at ILM. Obviously there aren't a ton of flights with layovers at ILM but for a hometown airport I'm not sure one could get any better.

Not a huge flyer but my favorites
- Providence
- Manchester
- Burlington vt
- asheville

Must have enjoyed my time living in New England

Portland, ME and Harrisburg are great, though the connections for Harrisburg have been cut since COVID making it a little less useful.

lots of small city airports are great, but there's no reason to go to them unless you're O/D there. ILM is a terrific airport, but unless your destination is a hub, you're out of luck.

Delta took an hour once my bag got off the plane to get it to baggage claim. My other bag made it in 15 minutes.

That is a solid guarantee. I don't think the first bag off my last 2 flights was coming out in 20 minutes,

I think I've gotten the 2,500 miles at MCO a dozen times since Delta implemented the 20 minute guarantee. Orlando has to be one of the worst in terms of time from gate to bag claim (not a big deal, since I would usually just go and get my rental car keys in the interim). At ATL, unless I fly into T gates, my bag is usually on the carousel before I get there.

Yeah I like the idea. American won't do it. Looks like just Delta and Alaska are so far. I feel like on American and SWA it takes 20 minutes from gate to get to the baggage area if sitting in row 15-20 anyway. And half the time the belt hasn't even come on when I get there.

i generally like the CLT airport (will love it once construction is done in ten years) but the baggage claim time there is TERRIBLE. I don't check a bag unless I have to simply to avoid the 30 minute wait.

International baggage claim at CLT runs pretty good though

def better than domestic but i still carried on for a 12 day trip last year
