2023 WF Baseball - Schedule Released

Yet out of the three sports it is far and away the one we’ve had the least success in over the last 10-15 years. Again, I’m not even sure how you only focus on one sport. What additional resources could bball get that are being funnelled elsewhere?

I disagree. We have been in the ACC championship twice in football, under two different coaches, in the past 15 years. It has been 25 years since we were in the basketball championship. We'll also start this year in the top 25 in football. The reality of college sports is that really good coaches win consistently, no matter the situation.

I'd probably throw a tier in there after basketball, with women's basketball, softball/baseball, men's/women's soccer, and hockey as the next tier.
 
So is Gabe the only player getting meaningful mins, that we are losing??? Any hot shot frosh expected?

Didn’t realize how young team was and does make it harder for Currie to cord this year. But as others have said a super regional should be the bar to keep job….

Baseball is definitely in 3rd by itself. Very few follow the regular season but the CWS is really only eclipsed by those two sports. Maybe it’s in a tier with women’s bball since people do watch the women’s final 4.

If you go by TV ratings, a lot more watch women's bball. It's on ESPN all winter, and last year the final 4 averaged 2.7 million viewers (4.8 million for the championship), compared to 755,000 average for the 2021 college world series.

Ahh fair. I just wouldn’t include stuff like soccer in with those. Soccer is big at WF because we’re good.
 
I will also add that baseball is good for a school’s profile because people watch MLB. Announcers talk about where people went to school. State has gotten a huge bump basically solely off of Trea Turner.

Both the softball world series and gymnastics championships averaged more than the baseball world series last year - both over 1 million viewers.

golob, tinsman, turconi. adler, cecere, bennett, mascolo, crum all draft eligible although adler is the only one i’ve seen mentioned as a legit prospect. all those guys have two more years of eligibility as well which theoretically makes returning more lucrative from a pro standpoint. technically tinsman and turconi have another year but would be shocked if they returned (also note the math in baseball is difference since most guys don’t have full schollies)

Dang. I was very wrong! All this does is fuel my post from last week that we should add a softball team!!!
 
Hate that y'all are done, not as much as y'all cementing my Pack's fate that last series, but now I'm pulling against teams instead of for them.

Some from Wake were thinking that Wake would be better off if Maryland was into their bullpen. Aaaahh, didn't work out well.
 
Mercifully the season is over--had high hopes but kept blowing games----ironic the only starter who won regional game was Hartle who people gave crap all year !
