I'd prefer to discuss it in person someday over one (1) beer or one (1) weed, Kory. My feelings are mixed, and I acknowledge my bias given I've worked in publishing my whole career.
 
I think I can understand that. Honestly it's mostly ease-of-use for me since Pitt has access to 95% of the articles I use but the methods of institutional verification can be absolutely sideways depending on the publisher. Sci-hub is just DOI and go.

This is an excellent post.

I've posted this before, but I'm a big fan of the mocking bumper stickers. 0.0 and T-Rex eating stick figure family are near the top. One of my best friends has a "Baby on Board" sticker on his Tahoe, not as a joke, and I make fun of him relentlessly.
 
I'm also not really pubbed yet (beyond a book review) and my experience is admittedly juvenile.

Yeah there are so many problems in the researcher workflow that even if one publisher gets it exactly right, how are you supposed to know when you're looking it up whether your institution has access off the bat and how easy it will be to get there? I certainly get that. There are good reasons for a version of record to be held in legit repos though, beyond just protecting publisher profit margins.

interesting. that is right down the road. but I think we'll do ok, and typically brewers celebrate other brewers. some of our marketing team is in town and we had a big dinner at Curate last night then went to a few spots on the South Slope.

I’m so ready for an edible night tomorrow after being in Maine, Outer Banks and Asheville then having friends (with an infant) in town last weekend.

Jk I would still go there but I think there are better places in Boone, both bars & breweries.

rising tide lifts all boats, really like that about the AVL beer scene

i think that's a good thing to have more spots to hit out there/gets more people to go out there that might be on the fence otherwise
 
I even liked lost province more towards the end, especially the taproom at Hardin creek.
