Wake Forest at Vanderbilt - 12 Noon - SECN

Vanderbilt's home football stadium remains pathetic. It is obvious their alums simply do not prioritize football. They are losers as a result. The alums are at fault.

You don't lose for 50 years because of a coach--or 5. To be Wake hoops bad, you have to choose it. Oh, sorry, I meant Vandy football.
Of course you take a huge road win over an SEC team and find a way to shit on Wake in your commentary.

And I still think our defense is suspect. And still think we will need to put up a lot of points this year.

Our defense looks to be improved over last year.

The thing I liked about the defense today is that they made a lot of tackles where ball carriers were falling backwards instead of forwards.

The defense controlled the game until it was essentially over. fluke? we will find out soon enough.

Driving home from the beach Monday so will listen to the same ESPNU stations that were all talking up Vandy on Friday. Will guess we’re barely mentioned, while they will be breathless about the Sunbelt.

It was pathetic 65 years ago when I attended Vandy games as a kid. A few years back they sent a committee to look at Groves, and probably some others then did practically nothing.

I was surprised Vanderbilt didn’t try more designed runs with Wright. He’s clearly not a great thrower, though the weather yesterday was brutal. Either way the most promising thing from the D yesterday is they allowed very little in the way of explosive plays which has been a killer for us against running QBs.

I was so impressed with the discipline of the D yesterday. Every time Wright thought about taking off, he had 2 guys waiting on him.

Not trying to take away from the defense, but remember that last year Wake mostly bottled up Malik Cunningham (under 50 yards rushing) ... and then let Garrett Shrader put up about 180 rushing against them.

The problems typically haven't come when WF is facing the scramblers (like Wright); it's when they've underestimated the speed/elusiveness of the other QB.

Well the good news is only the Duke QB can sneak up on us this year

Well now my excitement bubble has burst

haha Wake's defense has improved; I'm just not sure it's been tested all that much through 2 games. Probably won't be the stiffest of tests against Liberty either.

Or Clemson?
