Army @ Wake Forest - 7:30 PM RSN/Bally

May have missed this, but was there an explanation for why Gavin Holmes and JJ Roberts didn't play?

He was saying FU to number 20 (probably saw the obvious targeting by #20 - how was that not targeting - on the Jumbotron).

Kind of like James Conner trying to take out Luvu last week.
I'd rather him say FU by giving the guy the middle finger, than trying to hurdle him though. I know he's a competitor, but if he'd have gotten hurt doing that in that situation, it would have been awful. That's a play you try to make in the Clemson game, or a big conference game if the score is close. Not up 28-0 against Army. Being up 28 on Army in the 2nd half is like being up 42 on most teams with their offense.

I think the defensive scheme called for extra safeties to help play the run. Dashawn Jones is the only corner I saw out there.

Martin is listed as a safety on the depth chart

I think it was an excellent move by Clawson and staff to use guy down the depth in the secondary against Army. Our corners are banged up and we're down Davis at safety, if we could get through that game without playing are normal corners and using more safeties, it would be great. That's how it worked out and it seems we got through that game with hardly if any injuries, which is very fortunately against option teams like Army.

Yeah, assumed something like that as well as just keeping guys healthy. Wingfield played a lot, as well and I think I saw Zamari Stevenson in towards the end.

Translation: I left the game early
You're hilarious, but unfortunately I was out of town and couldn't go to the game. I just think it is a dumb thing to complain about. I prefer to stay until the end but there are times when there are reasons I need to leave.

Which is understandable. No one is upset about an individual who has to leave because of reasons. But it's legitimate to question when 90% of the stands are gone at the start of the 4th quarter (because 90% of the stands don't have "reasons"). I'll admit I left when it was clear that Kern was just handing off to Claiborne and we weren't even attempting to get a 1st down because it was late and cold.

Soooo, the acceptable time to leave is after the start of the fourth quarter but possibly before the end of the game. How do you know when it is late and cold enough?

Unless you sat through UCONN in 2003 (I think) I don’t want to hear it. And I went to that game alone.

Edit to add it was 2003.

I was there.

But I left.

What ever happened to that goofball quarterback for UCONN ?

I sat through the freezing cold, rainy game vs Rice during one of Dooley’s bad years. Jim Beam airline bottles helped.

Was I not with you for that? I didn't have enough bourbon to completely forget the miserable experience, but apparently it was enough to remember who I was with.

I think the worst was Miami in ‘05. Stayed still the end. Monsoon. Freezing. Down 40.

Btw, I stayed until the end this past Saturday too!
