I gave up coffee the last two weeks because of Alcohol induced gastritis, had my first cup this morning and it was heavenly!
 
The only thing about this twitter situation that I enjoy is a lot more normie liberals (Tesla customer base) are realizing that Elon Musk is a piece of shit. Downside is that conservatives and libertarians will reflexively defend Elon even harder now.

I don’t disagree with you about Elon Twitter but I think Cata and others have problem had it in for the platform well before it was bought out. I hope that if it dies a clone springs up because it is a very useful medium imo.

My younger sister got a bad case of gastritis after combining Tylenol (? I think) and drinking at a wedding where she got sunburnt earlier that day. Was in the worst pain for a solid month. Glad you are feeling better!

I will continue to dream about my first cup.

Yeah 100%. I'd have been much happier if he'd never bought it. I had a very curated timeline of people that offered interesting backgrounds and perspectives and IDK how I will rebuild that social graph in one place again and it makes me sad. Some mixture of reddit communities, substack subscriptions, and maybe mastodon will probably be what I'd fall back on.

However, it's worth it to reduce dangerous hate speech or giving a larger platform to dangerous anti-science bigots.

Yeah, probably was ibuprofen. I think that’s what I did, first time browning out in like a decade. At a wedding and pretty sure after like 15 tequila shots when I got back to the hotel I autopiloted with brush teeth, contacts out, better not get a hangover unknown number of ibuprofen.

The good news is your stomach lining replaces itself about every 2-3 weeks anyways so usually feel better with a little time. If scarring then takes a few cycles to heal.

I do. All CEO's have a bit of narcissism but I actually really do like ours and think his head is in the right place. I've been w/my company since it was ~10 people so we've got a great working relationship.

He's also seen up close what burn-out looks like from some of the hours we (necessarily) pulled in the early days of our product. Since then he's walked the line pretty well about keeping work manageable (work smarter not harder etc.). We've had half day fridays since the pandemic because people weren't taking enough PTO etc.

That said, we'd both agree that there is a very real chance our company would not still be kicking if I (and others) hadn't put in ridiculous hours for about a 6-12 month period. So I think he probably still remembers/glorifies that and that's what he's thinking about when he likes this kinda crap.
 
I take it your company was not an establish platform with 8000 employees that was gutted and thus necessitating a start up culture.

Lol yes exactly.

Also if we were to lay off half the company, I think we'd be fine as long as most of our customer support/success staff wasn't included in that. I would be demanding a very large raise though because it would be p rough going.

We are also fairly unique for a tech company in that most of our problems don't come from huge numbers of active users, but the data that a small number of active users gives us. So downtime etc. is usually just on our back-end systems (no problem servicing app traffic)

If people are in the office whiteboarding the tech stack at 1am yes definitely... this is probably in day 1 or 2 onboarding material for Twitter engineers (I've heard they had a great onboarding program too)
