I, personally, have owned 4 cars in my 44 years. 86 (I think) Chevy S-10 when I was 16. Quickly wrecked that and then got an 88 Honda Accord LX. Drove the Accord until I was about 20 and then bought a new 98 Honda Civic HX. Drove the Civic until 2015 when I bought my new (then) Nissan Frontier. Hope I get another 10 years out of my Nissan.

it's a real shame they don't make trucks like the S-10 or the original Ford Ranger any more

for like 90% of people that drive a truck it's all they need
How else do you compensate for having a tiny dong while living in a big metro area other than a giant, raised truck? Asking for a friend.

I don't get car people, or anyone willing to pay 75K+ on a car. It literally makes no sense.
Agreed.

I've never owned a new car. Currently have an 08 and a 12. Both bought used. We've not had a car payment in... 5 years?

Apple CarPlay seems sweet. I have a 2015 and was the last model that didn't have it. Probably getting a new car on a lease through my business next year. Looking forward to that feature.

Biggest car technology jump for me was adaptive cruise control. Total game changer for highway driving.
This, 100%

We got it when we upgraded wife's highlander to a subaru ascent a few years ago, and after that I was determined to never have a car without it again.

Traded in my prius C I purchased in grad school for a RAV4 prime a couple months ago and that might be my favorite car I've ever had, electric range covers all daily driving, but don't have range anxiety on road trips, plus it's pretty zippy/fun to drive for an SUV

Historically, we've bought new and get 10+ years out of the car. This summer, my kid gets my car and the old man gets a new ride. I'm interested in going more electric, but the battery life in colder climates isn't great and the infrastructure isn't what I'd want it to be to fully commit. Hopefully the Costco Auto program is running some sweet deals for me to take advantage of like I did 9.5 years ago when I pretty much stole my current car.

I have used cruise control once or twice in my 30+ years of driving. I take plenty of long trips. I don't like any of the automatic driving features in cars because they do not drive the way I would and I am perfect.

Do you regularly drive more than 150 miles in a day? You could make electric work even in a cold climate. If winter road trips are a priority it might not work but otherwise I think you’d be good

Rental car coverage limit for USAA is $30 day/ $900 total, so basically a month, but it has to be renewed every 3 days?
that was ours with State Farm, but doesn't have to be renewed. when we rented the car in VA they were like "hmm, that's weird, VA doesn't require caps. must be a NC thing."

so you're the guy whose speed is constantly fluctuating on the highway and is hard to drive around or read properly
