MBB Game 20: UVA @ LJVM - Saturday 2pm - ESPNU

Don't mean to pile on the guy, but I was sure expecting more from Williamson this year than we have gotten.

I feel like Marsh has disappeared lately. Understand that some games aren’t good matchups but if he plays he has got to rebound aggressively. Letting a 6-8 freshman wing grab a critical rebound over him down the stretch cannot happen.
 
Monsanto needs 16 more made 3’s to crack the WF top 20 list in that category in his second season as a Deac. He has shot 40.5% from deep.

Nobody on the top 20 list has exceeded 40% except for Cal Boyd and Rusty LaRue, who shot 3’s from a roughly 2 1/2 foot shorter line.

UVA is a one-dimensional, mediocre offensive basketball team. They have zero post presence and are not a threat to dribble drive and finish at the rim. And yet we refused to guard the only thing they do—shoot threes. Giving up 15 threes is embarrassing. Lack of focus and effort on defense got us beat today, and little else.
 
I can't relate or really even begin to understand what it's like to attend college and actively pull against your college team.

Yeah. Daivien is averaging the fewest points of his career at 8.9. He averaged 9.5 as a freshman at ETSU. That's not just minutes. His per 40 scoring is 13.5 which is also the lowest of his career. Daivien's worst season from inside the arc was .521 two seasons ago. He's .321 inside the arc this season. His three point stats are simliar to last year but he's giving us nothing on the dribble drive. Last year, he had a few plays like Appleby every game.

He should be anchoring the bench. Instead he has 13 points total in the last four games.

Me neither but I also can’t relate to pulling against my Dad in his profession.

Especially when he’s stroking $80,000 checks each year for me to attend school.

UVA's offense knows what they're good at and they generally do it well. They're shooting almost 39% from three on the season after today's 15-34 performance and they rarely turn the ball over. They have a seasoned ballhandler who helps find backdoor looks and kick outs without many errors at all. Don't really take a lot of low EV shots (read: mid range jumpers) and either drive to the basket for contact (normally shoot a lot of free throws) or have a good look for three.

They're going to be a tough out with their defensive pressure and incisive offense.
 
I should add that it was FANTASTIC and almost nostalgic to see the Joel nearly packed and rocking with 95% Wake Forest fans!!!

After the hell this program has been through, I never thought I'd see the Joel almost full and rocking again with NON UNC and Duke fans!

No idea how old she is, but Bennett has been at UVa since 2009 and in coaching her whole life. I'm sure she was torn but rooted for her dad. Nothing wrong with that. But if she was one of the girls in that shot, that's hilarious.
 
credit where due. UVA’s ball movement on offense is very good. Their guards run their shit and they get open looks.

What in the world are y’all talking about. My parents know damn well I wouldn’t root for them in any sort of H2H matchup. Hell they raised me like that. It’s not like Tony Bennett is some upstart coach trying to make it. He’ll still be fine laying in his bed made of millions of dollars tonight if he loses this game.
 
Even some sort of one-off OOC game against someone we will never play again I could see it. But not against a concerned rival. If she cares about her dad and UVA that much she should have gone there.
