@TimmyClutch - sorry.

Honestly, the ones that hold more weight are the ones that say do NOT hire X person.

But in the situation you described, that person would at least be fast-tracked through the first screening level and I would at minimum speak to them about the position.

Frankly I only know lower manhattan, nothing much north of Union Square, so if you’re looking to stick up around midtown, I don’t have many recs, would probably just check Eater. If you’re willing to head down to the Village or SoHo or Chelsea, I’ve got some favorites.

I always recommend Lovely Day, a tiny Thai spot with outstanding curries. Blue Ribbon is a fun spot in SoHo. Charlie Bird has the best pasta I’ve had outside Italy. Fonda closed its East Village spot, but has locations in Chelsea and Tribeca, and really fucking good Mexican food. Not a fan of Meatpacking generally but Hao Noodle is excellent. So much good pizza but Prince St is probably my favorite if you’re in Nolita later in the evening.

These look like some good options on the other nights. Thanks!

What are some kid-friendly vacations to do with a <1 year old? I think one of you guys went to London for like 2 weeks with a baby? As I think everyone knows, I love to travel, have been fortunate to travel a lot, and the idea of that going down the drain post-kid gives me anxiety. I know life is going to change significantly, and fortunately we have grandparents who will be able to help out to allow some couple travel on occasion.
Life only stops after a kid if you let it. Under 1 they travel pretty easy; biggest challenges you'll have to overcome are sleep and feeding schedules, how strict of a schedule you are trying to impose on the kid, and how you and your wife are managing all that stuff. It's harder, and different, but it stills worth while.

What I failed to mention was I drunkenly got 2 slices from a place called "$.99 Pizza" on the way home from a couple Irish bars at 1:30 AM on a Thursday. Rough next day of work/travel.

Yea I did london and paris with our (then) nearly 2 year old last summer.

If they’re not mobile it’s a breeze. You gotta be on their schedule to a certain degree but you can just bring them around in strollers to places. Once they’re walking around it’s a different deal, just have to change your expectations of what the trip will be like.

My son, our last night in Paris, made it out of the stroller and up into a bistro chair for an incredible meal on Rue Mouffetard. He dug London Fields, all the fountains and parks in Paris, and all the baked goods he could get his hands on. Would have obviously been great if we could have enjoyed a night out to ourselves but we gave each other breaks and explored solo for a bit, and enjoyed the times he was sleeping in a stroller to go through museums and such too.

After Townie survived leading me around Italy with multiple train connections I'm sure taking a toddler to London/France was easy street.
Will never forget the look on your face in the rear view mirror while I was driving back on the highway from Tuscany to Rome with no speed limit, going like 200kmh and getting flown by by Maseratis and Ferraris. You looked like you saw a ghost the whole time lololol

Making buffalo chicken cheesesteaks tonight. Got some liscio’s rolls (if you know you know), chicken thighs in the crockpot in buffalo sauce, some sharp prov. Will sauté some mushrooms add blue cheese and pickled carrots, hot diggity.

Sometimes I consider myself handy and adept at home improvement and then I realize that when my father-in-law dies I’m going to be incapable of changing a light bulb without a handyman.
