Well if he’s gonna try and outflank mark robinson from the right it’s gonna get racial fast. Total race to the bottom in that one.
very interesting litmus test for the state. thank god we had Roy Cooper during the Trump years/pandemic but with the Supreme Court and that awful legislator who flipped God knows what'll happen.

Absolutely. Our student body goes out and lines the track and then all the competing athletes from the county take a lap and our student body goes batshit and screams and claps for like 20 minutes and it's one of the highlights of the year.

well that's good

Seriously, though. We have seen a huge loss of capable teachers during and post Covid but things kind of feel stupidly optimistic right now in education from those of us that remain. Also, I honestly enjoy my work and coming in every day and live in an area with a ridiculously low cost of living so I'm probably the last person that should act like teaching is terrible.
That's good to hear. It's easy to get super pessimistic about the future with all the capable/wonderful people I've seen leave teaching the last few years. I really want to send my kid to public schools and have them get a good education (or at least on the level of my Gastonia education lol).

Also, I weighed in this morning and I have officially hit my weight goal. Down 18 lbs from the start of March.

Preemptive 95 percent of it is hair loss joke.
Damn. That is some legit cutting. When's the last time you had a carb?

I eat oatmeal, brown rice and fruit every day, just in carefully measured amounts. I've never been able to do the no carb thing because it absolutely saps my energy for working out.

this video is incredible

Vangelis is incredible.

Jon Anderson of Yes on meeting Vangelis for the first time.

"So I got a phone number for Vangelis, he was living in Paris and I went there and called him up. He said (affects a gruff Greek accent) 'Hello', I said, 'My name's Jon Anderson'. He said 'What?' I said, 'I'm in a band called Yes', he said, ‘Are you a singer? Well, come over', so I went over. There was this big guy with a long kaftan on and a bow and arrow around his shoulder. I got into his palatial apartment near the Champs Elysee and there's quite a long hallway down to his living room, and there's a little old man there sitting by the TV. Vangelis takes out his bow and sends this arrow down the hallway and it goes right through the window, because the window was open. I said, 'Vangelis, you could have killed somebody', he said, 'Oh, don't worry, I'm Greek'. I said, 'I know you're Greek, but come on'."

Been slumming through these Lucy Foley books (actually not terrible) while I wait for stuff to come off hold at the library, anybody got anything good lately?
Just finished Babel by R.F. Kuang. Phenomenal.

Period Adventure set in Oxford in the 1800s that combines translation theory, anti-colonialism, debates about the best way to combat empire (and when/if violence is necessary), revolution, and magic.
