Our main 3 arenas/sports facilities are closer to get to than a lot of schools that have so-called on campus arenas, plus far better parking. Smith Center, JPJ at UVa for instance. Ours are 1 mile from our small campus. Where in the heck would we put parking & handle traffic?

Ehh...look, I don't place as much emphasis on the Joel as DR does, but I remember a LOT of empty seats during those times, because I was fukcing around in the upper deck with my friends. We had the run of the place in the upper decks for all but the biggest ACC games.

The Joel is far from optimal for basketball in general, and even worse for a school the size of Wake, in a state with so many big programs to compete with for the non-alum fans.

He started by bragging about his dad’s success and how rich he was during his time at Wake. Seems he parlayed that large head start into financial success and wants everyone to be in awe. This has been the DR playbook for 20 years.

He pulls this so often it seems it isn’t parody.

You can nitpick on the details but, the question was whether the Joel was a bad environment during the Duncan, Childress years - in other words, when we were good. The answer to that question is an unequivocal No - it was not a bad environment. It was a great environment. Were there some empty seat for anything other than the biggest game - probably. But I was there for a lot of games and it was pretty damn full and very loud!
