Official 2022-23 NBA Offseason - Aces win WNBA Finals; Preseason; NBA Fantasy League last call

I don’t know what to do. My Mavs are actually taking the draft seriously and Cuban is actually letting Nico and Finley do GM things
Mavs still got some ways to go with this roster, and who knows what Kyrie does, but man lots of Mavs insiders reporting that Cuban actually sat back and let Nico work in the draft. If that actually happens all off-season and going forward, Mavs may actually be able to build a decent team

But history says Cuban gets bored and injects himself again

There is a few guys in this draft I am really excited to see in the NBA. I think there are some really underrated guys outside the top 3

Most watched NBA Draft in history up 23% from last year.

Summer League is going to be great. Wemby is playing. Strong class. Chet should make his debut.

Paolo Banchero is playing for Team USA at the FIBA World Cup. He had previously committed to Team Italy. That should help with the big man problem. I think they’ll need to go bigger than last time with France in mind. Bam, KAT, JJJ, maybe Allen and Ayton. Paolo, Kessler, and Chet would be picks for the future with high upside who wouldn’t mind coming off the bench.

“Team USA is being pieced together by managing director Grant Hill, coach Steve Kerr and general manager Sean Ford. Banchero joins Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson, 2023 All-Stars Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton, former All-Star Brandon Ingram, rising stars Jalen Brunson, Austin Reaves and Mikal Bridges, and veteran sixth man Bobby Portis. All-rookie selection Walker Kessler and versatile wing Cam Johnson, have also committed.

USA Basketball has not made any announcement of its roster; training camp begins Aug. 3 in Las Vegas and the first game of the World Cup is Aug. 26 in Manila.”

Embiid may play for Team France. An Embiid, Wemby, Gobert post rotation would be insane.

I thought Embiid had already played international competition for Cameroon, his African country of origin. I see he also has French citizenship.

He was on the roster for AfroBasket but never played.

Vegas Summer League schedules are out. Spurs vs. Charlotte on Friday, July 7 at 8 on ESPN.

Ahh. That makes some sense. I didn't follow that closely. Just would have guessed that if you have that talented player on your roster, he plays. Unless, he was hurt.

Thought on teams stocking up 2nd round picks. With the new CBA, quality rotation players on cheap contracts including two ways and Exhibit 10 deals are even more important. So perhaps rebuilding teams like the Spurs and Wizards are stocking up picks for 4+ years from now when they expect to have a few max guys, some other big contracts, and need more shots at cheap rotation guys. Kind of like how the Nuggets traded into some picks this season to complement their expensive core four.

Teams used to have "normal" distribution of salaries. A few making a lot, a few making little and most making midrange. Now it seems teams are going bimodal. 3-4 Max/super max guys and a bunch of rookie and vet min guys with little in between.

It’s the stars and scrubs version of auction fantasy leagues.

The trend towards teams having 2 or 3 guys on max/super max contracts has really cut the market for the very good NBA players. Guys are getting pushed down to vet min before they should be because cap room is mostly used for the top guys.

Zion needs a change of scenery. The Pelican organization is too soft on him. Now the jury is way out on whether the Hornets could toughen him up and get him serious, but it could work. But I am hearing it's still a possibility and that the Pelicans are not as averse to trading Zion as they are saying.
Zion needs to lose weight & get in shape. A body that large is just not made to play basketball, jumping-cutting-dunking on those knees & hips with that much muscle mass. He has missed so many games so far, if I was a team looking, I would pass. No way to give him next level contract being that injury prone. Saw that his year at Duke when he ripped his shoes out of the floor. Body that size & torque don’t go together well.

i'm always curious which players run their own social media accounts, which have assistance, and which fully outsource it

Ben Simmons is a pathetic dude.

Wemby won't participate in the FIBA World Cup to focus on his rookie season. He had 22/17 and 15/3 in their last two qualifiers in February. That increases the likelihood he'll play most of the Summer League games.

Wait, did Ben Simmons really "accentuate" his muscles in his IG post? Like, did he actually do that?

Apparently. The "before" pic was posted and then later the "improved" Ben pic. Everything except Ben was the same in the two pics.

John Collins to the Jazz for Rudy Gay and a 2nd.

I was already high on the Jazz. Now I think they’re a sleeper to finish top 3 in the West. I think more moves with all those assets they have.
