WF Baseball Off-season Thread

Fun fact...Brock Wilken had 2 triples in 3 years at Wake and now already has 3 in 21 pro games....

FWIW, yesterday, the Nationals promoted Dylan Crews to AA Harrisburg and the Pirates promoted Skenes to AA Altoona (surprised that the Pirates didn't shutdown Skenes given his workload at LSU). If both stay healthy and don't get promoted again in the next couple of weeks, Harrisburg and Altoona play a six game series (minor league baseball now regularly play week-long series to reduce travel costs) from September 5 to September 10. So, there will likely be a Skenes v. Crews pitcher v. batter face-off. Would/will be interesting when Lowder faces Wilken or Sullivan faces Hawke and other Deac v. Deac battles going forward.

Has Shuster faced any former Deacs in the MLB this year? I guess the only one that seems possible is Fairchild

And yet people yak all the time about how much Duke football improved with old transfers last year. And FSU football has built up to their “supposed” Top 5 national title run this year. Not liking how they do it. But we have done it very well in both basketball & baseball ourselves! Gotta play the new game.

Many that hate Duke and the fact they beat us last year, are picked ahead of us this year and favored in Durham this year right now.
 
The point is that no one really cares about Duke football, not even Duke fans. If fans of other schools are sitting around talking about Duke then they need to refocus on more relevant topics. FSU fans aren’t talking about Wake and we have beat them 3 straight years. Until Duke starts beating us consistently they don’t deserve the irrational concern.

FSU is one QB injury from being 5-7. We have owned those clowns. We call both them and Miami poverty schools down here in Florida.
 
Not sure if it’s been posted, but Lowder is on the developmental list for Dayton and they don’t expect him to pitch until 2024.
 
Baseball team got into some trouble in Nashville. No big deal really. Bouncers at those bars are dicks.
