Official 2023 College Football Thread: Michigan Recognized as National Champions of Cheating !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1) I don’t agree and 2) very few guys are getting $500k especially as HS recruits. Realistically you need both if you really want to be competitive in this landscape.
1) Not agreeing is what makes these boards fun. I'm just thinking of my own experiences in being recruited in a minor sport with limited scholarship money. To me the highest offer outweighed the facilities but we were also lower middle class and my parents said I was on my own for college. Maybe some kids today would pick the facilities over the offer? Idk
2) true but rosters now are relying on transfers who get nil offers. Take a look at FSU roster. Pretty much bought half their starters this year.

Nobody cares, but UF isn't getting rid of Napier after this season. Expectations are low for UF this year, and his recruiting for '24 (& beyond) will keep him around for at least another season or two.

The only way his seat gets warm this offseason is if they are embarrassingly bad this year. Losing @ Utah wasn't a surprise... I don't know many Gators who thought they'd win that one (though there was certainly more optimism as the game approached due to Utah injuries).
You don't think they'll be any openings at the Tier 1 football schools? I can almost guarantee there will be at least 1

Those rankings are meaningless, made up by the media. They dominate their shit conference and lose when they play any decent team OOC. To me the Big 10 teams are no different than App State used to be in football, or like Gonzaga in basketball, they are just on TV more.

Similar to how the rules of the NFL game have evolved to make RB-focused teams obsolete, the rules of the college game have evolved to make the B1G obsolete. Their fans are just too numerous and deluded to accept it, and the ridiculous impact of completely biased rankings just adds to the confusion. Urban Meyer's penal colony is the only B1G school that has realized it, and then of course he bailed anyway.
Rankings are obviously made up, but they matter tremendously imo. That determines who gets talked about, who is on the primetime games, and who is on Gameday/bottom line constantly. I don't know how to put a price tag on the type of exposure that goes with being ranked for say 5 weeks out of the year vs. 12-13, but I bet it's a good chunk of change.

I don't think the Big 10 is any different than those two examples you gave either, but I think we probably disagree on what that means

And the Big 10 hasn't just had OSU/Michigan/Penn State ranked top 10-15 in human polls, they're consistently in there power ratings wise and in Vegas offerings.

Friend of mine texted me this:

“I just read that Elko is 10-4 at Duke. 3 of 4 losses were by 3 pts or less (UNC, Pitt, GT). Lost to Kansas by 8 early last season.

Duke D has given up only 21 ppg in 14 games

Yes, we are going to need him to leave by early December.”

Elko staying at Duke scares the ever living shit out of me.

This may be heresy, but he's a better coach than Clawson.

Let the burning at the stake commence.

Any guesses about who is Duke' DC?

Lyle Hemphill

Maybe I missed it, but they really just kept talking about Tyler Santucci instead of Hemphill when they were mentioning the defense.
Because Santucci is the DC.

NamePositionPhoneEmail
Mike Elko Head Coach (919) 684-2635 mike.elko@duke.edu
Kevin Johns Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks (919) 684-2635
Tyler Santucci Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers (919) 684-2635
Lyle Hemphill Co-Defensive Coordinator/Safeties (919) 684-2635

Santucci was Co-DC under Elko at A&M. Looks like Elko likes to have a DC and Co-DC.

Santucci will probably be up for a head job if they keep this up so Hemphill may slide into the DC role soon.

That's not what I said. I just said that Elko isn't going to UF after this season because Napier will still be the coach there. I have no idea what happens with other schools. I like Wake Forest and Florida.

Touche sir you're right you only mentioned Florida. I was just projecting on my fears that Elko may stay at Duke 😱😱😱

He Duke’s safety coach- not DC.
Not according to the Duke website. Hemphill is the safety coach and

Co-Defensive coordinator

Hemphill's Duke profile states:

"Lyle Hemphill joined the Blue Devil gridiron program in December 2021, and serves as the co-defensive coordinator after being elevated from an assistant coach in March 2023."

Santucci is the Defensive Coordinator (not co-Defensive Coordinator)

Hemphill is the co-Defensive Coordinator

Those titles don’t make sense; however, they do suggest Santucci has ultimate responsibility.
