Florida State Game Time

You asked if we’d be happy with averaging 7-8 wins and having an occasional 6 win season. I’m happy with 6 wins being our floor and getting there in a transition year. I think that’s worth celebrating.

The aggregate record of all D1 teams in a year is .500 so hitting that average in a down year is good. Wake has been in the sub .500 wilderness for too many years to sneer at a .500 season, with a chance for a bowl win to make it 7-6.

There are (a few) Gopher fans that want PJ Fleck fired even though we will probably have 7 (+/- 1) wins this year....in spite of our last 3 non-covid seasons being 9, 9, and 11 wins. People overreact.

Will be close going into the 4th behind a Herculean effort from our defense. Probably a couple forced turnovers. Our offense will do just enough to get enough first downs to grind out enough clock to keep us in it. I'll leave it there for starters. GO DEACS BABY

It’s .500 against FBS, but add in an FCS game for basically everyone and it’s more like 6.4-5.6 is average, not accounting for schedule discrepancies from there.

That said, if our down years are 5-6 against FBS (2-6 or 3-5 against ACC), I’d still take it going forward. It’s much better than our historical bad years.

Wasn’t Kaliakmanis supposed to be really good?
