MBB Game 1: Elon Phoenix at WF - Monday (11/6) 8 pm ACCN+

I thought Boopie was fine after he settled in a little bit. He basically didn’t play at all last year after getting hurt then redshirting at CMU right? His speed is definitely as advertised.
I, uh, don’t want him shooting the 35 foot 3 pointers in games that are close.

I also wasn’t particularly impressed with his ability to distribute the ball, bit that could certainly come as he gets up to speed

If he hits em I don't care, seems like every year in the NCAA tourney there is some team with an undersized guard shooting and making those in clutch moments, so I'm good with it if we finally have one of those (and make the tourney 🙏).

I think most of Boopie's issues last night just stemmed from getting back into game speed. I assume it will slow down for him as the year goes along and he gets his footing back.

The tools are there.
Yeah felt like he was trying to do too much at first but definitely let the game come to him more in the second half and I liked what I saw there.

The lack of assists stuff is still the team learning to play together IMO, in the first half especially tons of passes to spaces where players weren't and guys just cutting or making moves a little too early/late.

Without looking through the last 9 months of posts, is Monsanto still out from the patella tendon tear in February? Do we think he's going to come back a contributor or is that a pipe dream?

College basketball is said to be a guards game. Small sample size, but, Wake looks like they have two elite guards in Cam and Hunter. Any game they combined put up 50 or more, Wake will be hard to beat. They did it against a purported top 10 Alabama. They did it against Elon, even with Sallis on the bench for the second half.

That shoulder fake, drive and dunk coming from the corner was an exclamation point on his developed game.

Yeah, he needs a nickname. I also find it laborious to type it out. I guess I'll just write Parker most of the time.
Is it pronounced "Fredrickson" like the PBP guy was saying? If so, maybe I'll just call him Fred. Hell, might do it anyway regardless of how it's pronounced.

It a lot easier to remember if you split it up.

Fried. rich. Sen.

Some of you were deprived of phonics as children.

From the WF Gameday notes:

PRONUNCIATION GUIDE
Jao Ituka Jow EE-too-Kuh
Damari Monsanto Mon-san-toe
Hunter Sallis Sall-iss
Marqus Marion Marcus
Parker Friedrichsen Fred-Rick-Sen
Abramo Canka Zan-Kah

Even when the offense was good last night, I felt like something was missing. I'm optimistic because I think there are three legitimate ways we add another dimension to the offense: (1) Monsanto returns to his normal form; (2) Parker grows into that Monsanto role, even if he's more guard than forward; or (3) Reid gets the waiver. Any one of those 3, and I think we're a much tougher team.
