2023 Election Day

Mississippi Governor implicated in multiple fraud schemes, but still holds on. The state gets what it deserves.

To be carried financially by the federal government? Maybe blue states? If I recall mississippi has something north of 40% of its state budget is paid from federal funding. #DeepStateCarryingAssholes

Ha, I just caught up on opening mail and I have a $400 check waiting for me, with the intro "you are receiving this rebate because Governor Glenn Youngkin said so" or something along those lines.

Pretty clever to have it arrive a few days before election day. Also pretty enjoyable to cash it knowing he just got his ass kicked in Virginia...

Part of the "Wednesday morning surprise" may be that people are unwilling to be publicly anti-MAGA but do vote anti-MAGA positions in the privacy of the voting booth. Not the first time something like this has happened.

We will see if this phenomen continues a year from now.

They spent 40 years intertwining their belief in their own inner exceptionalism by saying that they were a part of the "silent majority." They are not. They remain in power through fear and anti democratic ideas.

Didn’t there used to be lots of arguments supporting a decrease in crime once abortion became legal?

Was that a bogus theory?

I think there was an issue with causation and effect given the time between abortion legislation and the responding crime rate drop.

Also hard to isolate the variables in a macro case like this.

We finally have something we agree on; Pubs have indeed remained in power through fear and anti democratic ideas.
Can we also agree that the Dems have remained in power by good old fashion ineptitude? Not nearly as frightful but equally maddening.

The GOP has completely failed on all facets regarding abortion. It's almost like the feedback that 85% of Americans believe that abortion, in some form, should be legal.
Overturning Roe is the worst Republican move in decades. They have no policy about where to move forward and they lost a boogeyman to rile the base up over

I don't think they've remained in power "by" ineptitude, but rather "despite"

Two biodomes for 20 years: one with abortion, one without !
