Let’s not reinvent history by saying that Sam Darnold was ever consistently reliable.

Darnold had a worse version of this same team basically in the playoffs until Steve Wilks decided that there was no reason to double-team Mike Evans even though he was the only WR on the field that anyone had ever heard of.

He’s a former MVP with incredible natural talent that overcame a relatively poor fundamental throwing motion and (for a while) injuries.

The other guy is a #1 overall pick and Heisman winner we mortgaged our future for, so yeah - imma gonna have some expectations.
