Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

Wait; I thought that it was reliably reported on twitter that Clemson, FSU, UVA and UNC were leaving the ACC...

Is there something special about the 7 year number?

makes the math work for trying to be "fair" with the west coast trips

Stanford and Cal have 56 home dates, combined, over 7 years.
7 of those home games are Stanford-Cal games
7 of those home games are SMU @ either Stanford or Cal

That leaves 42 games to divvy up.

42/(14 current ACC schools) = 3 trips to wine country per school

I bet FSU and Clemson get the Fall Harvest dates

I also bet the ACC will need to change the schedules before the 7 years are up

Man I do miss those days though. . . the school day just stopped on friday, and we watched basketball in almost every class!

Ah, NC in the late 80s/early 90s. . . . such a different place now
I'm sure many older posters here remember that Dr. Gentry would always cancel class on the Friday of the ACC tournament.

Go to a couple of Pirates’ games. Cool walk across the Roberto Clemente Bridge to a great stadium. Pittsburgh is cool for a few days especially in the summer.

So what is the latest word on FSU/Clemson, etc. leaving the ACC? Some people tell me they have heard from insiders that it is definitely happening - others say there is no way...
