2023-24 Wake Forest Basketball Season - 21-14 (11-9) - KP#29 / NET#43

Seems like most of the advantages of playing cupcakes are negated by having to win by 20-30 points. So it makes little sense unless it’s a home game against a local opponent.

Exactly. Play one the first game of the season and then don’t do it again.

And then in CFB weak schedules are often rewarded if your conference is viewed as good enough (Michigan). And the mighty Ess Eee See loves having their Cowards Weekend late in the season lest most of the teams actually try.

Now it’s kind of funny that FSU also doing this is what eventually led to them being excluded from the playoffs.

Watching KP movements can drive anybody insane.

On 12/21

•#59 WF defeats #305 by 23 points.
•#57 VT defeats #292 by 22 points.

As of today

•Wake: no movement. #59
•VT: up 8 spots to #49
1. Results from the teams you played already make stuff move around.
2. Why should anyone care about KP movements at the end of December?

To the common fan naked eye, that doesn’t look much different than our schedule. But the teams are much better and three are a 3 or 5 hour bus ride away.
This is the way to do the schedule. It can't be that hard.

Maybe Forbes is worried we will lose to Wofford or Furman or Winthrop?

Likely that movement is due to what VT’s previous opponents have done recently then, right? I’m fairly the certain the value of every matchup on your schedule changes throughout the season based on how those opponents perform.

It can drive you insane if you focus on just the spots, but Wake and VT each moved up about the same amount.

Wake from +12.59 to +13.02 as of this morning. Meaning 13 points better per 100 possessions than the average D1 team.

57 as of this morning is 13.11. VT now at 13.48. Then it’s just a function of how many teams you passed along the way.

I’d guess this Wake team ends up around +16, which would be good for 36th today. The ManMan team finished at +15.56 for reference.
