Wait. Spurrier wanted to go back to Florida?
yes, but he just wanted the job. didn't want to have to interview or be a formal candidate.
Wait. Spurrier wanted to go back to Florida?
Not fast enough to not get pasted on National Championship game.
And DeacInBama hit the nail on the head. I just dont see Urban pulling enough guys to let OSU sport a DLine like LSU and Bama have in the near future. Urban or no. Why go to the midwest when you have better programs in your backyard you can play for?
There's been a whole lot of stupid slathered on this thread in the last page or so.
Right, but the point remains, at OSU he is going to be expected to win the big one. Every coach at OSU is expected to win the big one, and the expectations on him will be even higher. I just think it will be harder to win it all at a big 10 school given what the SEC has done in the last 10 years.
OSU has made it to the Champ game twice coming out of a weak big 10 with no championship game, only to have an SEC team completely wipe the floor with them.
The deal between Meyer and Ohio State was consumated in principle earlier this week in Columbus but not signed. It includes a multi-year contract that will make Meyer once again one of college football’s highest paid coaches.
In additon to Meyer’s generous compensation package, sources said a major factor in the coach’s decision to agree to take the position was the school promising him the budget to assemble what is expected to become the highest-paid assistant coaching staff in college football history.
Of that staff, sources indicate Meyer’s intial plan is to retain current Ohio State head football coach Luke Fickell and current Buckeye wide receivers coach Stan Drayton.
Meyer also aims to add Chris Spielman, Kirk Herbstreit, current North Carolina State linebackers coach Jon Tenuta and current LSU offensive line coach Greg Studwara to his Ohio State staff.
Good thing you're here to slather on a helping of really fucking stupid to go with a healthy dose of condescending arrogance.
Maybe I'm the only one but there a STRONG Big Ten stigma in terms of no athleticism. I just can't even comprehend a team there winning a title. Even Ohio State's last one was such bullshit.
Pointing out stupidity is no indication of same.
I suppose thinking I can do something about it might be.
The two pages of comments on Ohio State were really the most obvious demonstration to date that most people on this board really do not know shit about college football.
Sorry to be the one to have to point that out...no, not really.
