MBB Game 15: @ FSU Tuesday (yikes) 7 pm ACCN

No thinking, stroke it. He gulped. It happens. He’s getting looks and as well as he shoots it, he is so good I believe he’s missing too many leaving points on the table.

This is fair. I also think he’s an absolute assassin.

Keller was out there way too long. The four minute stretch sans Reid and Carr even with foul trouble was a disaster
 
Forbes sounded sick post game:

"A disappointing loss. We've got some things to fix. We did a poor job on the in-bounds. We had a 69-67 lead and just didn't do it."
 
I don’t understand the Marsh love. He brings nothing to the table. You expect Forbes to say “Marsh DNP because he’s ass”? Everybody knows he’s not playing because he’s not good enough and if you ask Forbes he’s just going to give some coach speak about best chance to win, etc.

We looked so ugly, we broke ESPN's scoreboard.

Our bigs continue to struggle. Carr with three bad games in a row. He can't play against physical teams, even with the extra weight. Keller obviously can't. Reid is too busy warming the bench committing an Eff-ton of stupid fouls. His blocked dunk was a 5 point swing. From on the cusp of going up 5 to tie game. And it was all them from that point out.

Everybody struggled though. Our guards scored, but they couldn't handle the ball. Some of it is credit to FSU's ball pressure, but mostly it was us being careless.

That was not a "tough road game". There were like 5 people in the crowd and zero noise.

Back to being a bubble NIT team. Hopefully that was our ACC tourney performance that we got out of the way early and won't use again.

Keller is so bad on the road. He is out of sorts and gets bullied. Feels like a game Marsh could have come in and at least clogged up the middle and prevent second chance shots.
 
This game shiws our lack of depth. Monsanto could have been the difference tonight. our Guys are playing too many minutes,
 
I had meeting tonight with the gamecast up. It was apparently as bad as it seemed. These kids either want this enough or they don’t. We have zero room for error.

ETA: I meant from here on out. Tonight obviously has to be put behind us.

Frustrating that every team seems to shoot above their average percentage against us. This game alone they had a banked in three the guy threw in a shot literally with his back to the basket that dipsy-doo under the rim shot that went in and the free throw that bounce high off the back of the rim and went in.

Not the end of the world with an L here but still frustrating with the turnovers. Don't think any other team in the country can emulate FSU's half court defensive length and size at every position so hopefully just an anomaly. Also helps that you can be that aggressive and not get called for anything. Refs were awful and it was a one-sided affair all night. Shake it off and move on to UVA.

FWIW, a healthy Damari helps in a matchup like this later in the season. 3/4 contested 3's against their length would force them to soften up the pressure a little bit. Really hoping he can return at some point.

I don’t think there is any love. But we needed a big body. He’s stronger than Keller and MMM.
 
So my power went out at halftime. Was trying to follow on gamecast. What the hell happened with the 4? straight turnovers in like a 2 minute span in the first 4 minutes of the 2nd half?

Press Miller, make him have to work every possession. We don't have a backup PG, unless Ituka returns. Cam handles it a lot when Boopie rests.

Respectfully, most teams pressing Boopie is a terrible idea unless they have the length and athleticism of FSU to make it tough on him. He'll just blow by. Agree on the backup PG aspect though, can't run him into the ground by February.
 
Hard to win on the road and we have not shown we can do it consistently. Glad the team fought back from down 12 in the first half and 13 in second. Disappointed that they were not able to buckle down once they had the lead at 69-67. Give FSU some credit as they hit their free throws and made us uncomfortable on offense. They have a lot of length and athleticism and it took us off our game. Need to regroup and beat UVA at home this weekend to stay on track.
