Friday games are bad for fans but good for TV, so expect more of them

Ever notice Clemson and FSU rarely if ever have had to give up a home game to a Friday night? I'm guessing they tell the conference to go eff off with that crap. Those old snuffies that are the bulk of the season ticket holders in Clemson would revolt.

Friday also sucks since you lose a home game for hosting recruits.

When I was working, Thursday games were a killer b/c I had to take a 1/2 day vacation on Thursday and then a full day on Friday (unless I wanted to get home well after midnight). Not to mention, working the day after on a Friday can curtail tailgating imbibbing the night before. So yes Fridays are tough for the fans, but maybe(?) not as bad as Thursday?

I don't mind Thursday or Friday games. Of course I live in WS and Friday is a day off for me.

Next year's basketball season starts November 4 so hopefully Wake will schedule a decent home game that Saturday to draw people for the weekend.

Well, would be bad if this is senior day and it makes it harder for families to attend. I’m guessing this isn’t our last home game then

Yes, the conference asks each school to host a weeknight game every so often, but some (Clemson) never do, and others (like FSU) have done so by cancelling classes on that day since they have actual buildings with classrooms attached to their stadium apparently, and gotten a ton of backlash for doing so. So schools that actually like to host them or are more willing to do so (VT, Syracuse, Pitt, Georgia Tech, NC State) end up hosting them more often, so that the conference can meet their TV contract quotas. Also, a school like Duke that wasn't attractive enough to host a weeknight game 5-10 years ago is now hosting back-to-back games vs. Clemson and FSU in consecutive seasons due to a run of recent good play.

Wake is 5-1 on Friday nights (regular season) under Clawson. Only loss was to Louisville in 2015.

Why Friday instead of Monday? Seems like most pastors I've known take Monday off to decompress from a busy weekend.

Taking Friday off means that I occasionally (when there aren't church activities on Saturday) have a chance to have 2 consecutive days off. And I find that on Monday I can get some of the more minor tasks done that don't require the intensity of other things that I need to do. Plus there are often meetings on Monday evenings. On Friday I get a full day- unless someone is in the hospital or dies.

This is the schedule I had when I was in a church as well. Key is to have the consecutive days off.

Plus more holidays on Mondays than Fridays, so you actually get the benefit.

I'm expecting a home game vs Virginia Week 2 (9/7), because all of our unannounced remaining opponents have games scheduled that date per fbschedules.com. That or a very early open date(n)

Are we really playing at UNC again? This the third time in a row that we have played there.

UNC played at Wake Forest in 2022, so I don't think that is statistically possible.
