2023-24 Wake Forest Basketball Season - 21-14 (11-9) - KP#29 / NET#43

We’ve won 6 conference games by 19+

How long has it been since we’ve won that many conference games by that many points?

Since the dawn of time, I suspect.

We had one such win combined over the last two times we won the ACC regular season title.

jumping into the top 30 pushes Florida a bit closer to no longer being a quad 1 win for us
UF looks a lot like us. 11-1 at home. Only 2-7 vs Q1. Zero bad losses (all of their losses are Q1).

Somehow they are more like a 7 seed and we're struggling to get an 11.

Well they won at Kentucky and beat Auburn at home.

Wake’s best wins are them and UVA.

So there’s the difference

in 1961 Len, Billy and the boys had 5:

81-59 over Clemson
88-61 over UVA
86-65 at Clemson
93-73 at SoCar
109-83 over SoCar

plus 98-76 over Maryland in the ACCT

in 1962 they had 4:

84-65 at UVA
91-72 over UNC
81-54 over Clemson
116-67 over UVA

plus an 18-point home win over Duke (97-79) and another 23-point win over UVA in the ACC tournament

I agree we are very similar to Florida in terms of metrics and record. I think the difference is that they get the benefit of the doubt due to pedigree and (to a lesser extent) being in the SEC. We do not get the benefit of the doubt due to our 10+ years of irrelevancy and lack of signature wins, especially OOC.

Auburn is #7 in NET...

13-1 at home; 2-6 Q1

3-4 on the road... Best win @ Ole Miss (KP69)... Other 2 road wins: Arkansas (118) & Vandy (203)

Viewed as a 4 seed.

If we beat duke, I think our resume is very similar to UF's

But we're still a touch behind imo

And I'm not trying to make some huge point with these resumes. I'm just pointing out that there are very few amazing resumes out there... Everything has warts outside of the very best.

I'm a stats guy. I don't even really hate NET. The quad stuff is dumb, but NET is as good as most anything else.

But it's silly that we went from 40 to 26 with a home win against Pittsburgh.

well, see, Ole Miss is currently in, because their KP is #69 (nice!)
