2024 Races (Non-president)

Looks like Stein vs. Robinson for NC Gov is officially unofficial.

I actually met Dem runner-up Mike Morgan last month at a men's breakfast at my parents' church. Nice guy. Stayed the whole time.
I think Justice Morgan is amazing. I voted for him today. I knew the odds were long but I think he’s in it for the right reasons.

Disappointed that Katie Porter is getting destroyed in the CA Senate primary. Hard to beat Schiff's national name ID, but I hoped it would at least be like 33/31/30 to set up Schiff vs. Porter and keep some GOP money and votes out of those House races.

Big surprise in NC was that the State Superintendent of Instruction, Republican Catherine Truitt, appears to have been upset in the GOP primary by newcomer Michele Morrow. Truitt has been a hardcore supporter of charters and vouchers, but Morrow makes her look centrist by comparison. Morrow homeschools her kids, and her campaign website states that "She is known throughout North Carolina for working with voters and elected officials to pass bills that protect parental rights and religious freedoms." She ran for the Wake County School Board and lost a couple of years ago, and in that campaign she called public schools "socialism centers" and "indoctrination centers" and urged parents not to send their kids to public schools. She told a reporter that “I think the whole plan of the education system from day one has actually been to kind of control the thinking of our young people.” She says she’s running for school board because not everyone can send their children to school elsewhere."

Basically a Religious Right Christian homeschooler who hates public schools and has told parents not to send their kids to public schools is now the NC GOP candidate to run the public school system. Wonderful. And I thought that you couldn't get much worse than Truitt.

I remember in 2016 thinking that McCrory was the worst of our troubles in NC... good lord. Eight years of Trump's GOP and now they're nominating demo Hitler as their governor candidate

What’s the race look like for that state house member who defected and gave them the supermajority

Did Cotham look like Botox Barbie before she changed parties or is that a Republican only look?

She looks different than she did in her Dem photos.

Her mom lost her county commission seat.

Agreed. I love Katie Porter and she would be a great senator. Hoping she runs to hold onto her house seat because that's an important toss up district.

When you compare her to someone like Mo Green (Guilford super, CMS general counsel, executive director of the ZSR Foundation) it shouldn't even be competitive. But it will be and that's sad.

"In addition to calling schools “socialism centers” and “indoctrination centers,” and urging people not to send their children to them, Morrow has also accused Democrats of stealing the 2020 Presidential election, suggested the death penalty against President Obama, Bill and Melinda Gates and “traitors,” called for the arrest of Joe Biden, referred to the COVID-19 vaccine as “population control,” called Islam “evil” on numerous occasions, suggested fake nooses on the necks of climate change protestors weren’t tight enough and joked that a mass shooting would be staged to distract from 2020 election controversy in Arizona. Morrow attended the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot with her oldest children and said she was there to teach her children a lesson about citizens’ role in a democracy."

Adam Schiff wins the CA Dem US Senate primary. Will face Steve fucking Garvey, who , as a Braves fan, I've never liked.

Katie Porter out of Congress.

Lots of pubs are going to talk a big game this fall about not supporting trump, Robinson, and morrow then proceed to do just that in the privacy of the ballot box.

Why the f did schiff give $10 million to Garvey?
California open primary system. The top 2 vote getters, no matter the party, go to the general election in the fall. Schiff boosted Garvey so that he would get more votes than Porter.
