and I don't think teams were really seeded much before then - I think 1984 is essentially the only time it has happened, ever

in 1977 WF beat Arkansas and Southern Illinois before losing to Marquette - Arkansas was definitely an upset in Vegas but I don't think they were seeded

And Wake hasn’t done it that much in the ACC Tournament either. I’m not sure if Wake has any wins as a lower seed over a single digit seed aside from 2006 going back a few decades.

Remember all the quotes gathered from NBA players, etc. about how good Redacted was? That's when you knew we were in trouble.

I looked up something related recently, and over a 20 year stretch, Wake won a total of 5 ACCT games.
 
Wildly, if you had a staff of our last 4 HCs (Forbes as HC) then I think that’s a really good staff. Would even say Skip with a staff of Dino, [Redacted], and manning is good. Just none of those three were HC material.

Within a year or two of the [Redacted] hire, I randomly had beers with a MAC AD (take a guess which school) who was flabbergasted by the [Redacted] hire.
 
Wellman hired his longtime friend whose daughter was going to Wake and was dealing with chronic health problems.

I do think Wellman though [Redacted] was a good coach and fans would be impressed that Wake hired a former NBA coach from a P5 conference. But his motivation for making the hire was helping out his friend. There’s too much evidence to support that.

I don’t think we can claim Wellman would have hired Stevens. I’ll go as far to say Wellman may have fired Dino in order to hire [Redacted].
 
Look at Wake since Wellman hired [Redacted]. Abject disaster until the last 3 years, and still can't get to the mountain. Zero need to contest any causation or correlation. Disaster. Plane has crashed into the mountain level disaster.

Pure fiction. All that's missing is your tin foil hat.

Wellman owns the Bzd hire and deserves all of the shit he catches for it but Bzd was down the candidate list and all of the coaches ahead of him on the list either had to say no or throw out comp demands out of the ballpark Wake was playing in at the time. The fact he was even on the list to begin with was the biggest issue, imo.

But many Wake fans both on the message boards and in real life were clamoring for an "X's & O's" guy after Dino.

I find this assessment to be wildly inaccurate.
