Saturday College Football 12/3

Regardless of what happens, I just hope toolbags like Dickie V stop using the tragic Oklahoma State plane crash as a reason for their loss to Iowa State. It's wrong, it's unfortunate, and it belittles the efforts of the Cyclones.

It wasn't a direct cause of their loss (I think they led 20-7 in 3rd quarter), but it had to be a factor to some extent. Probably more for the coaching staff than the players.

The ISU loss was bad. No question about it. But it was a road conference loss in Double OT. Not the worst thing ever.

Look at Bama's schedule. They did nothing of consequence after Sept 24. Great team, but their resume is overrated.

ESPN is still talking about it like LSU-Bama rematch is already locked in. And I dont' know, it might be - the number of voters that would need to flip their vote might be insurmountable for OSU. But it would be hilarious if it ended up being OSU and ESPN had to eat their words.

If they jump Bama in the computer rankings, which I think they will fairly easily, they might only need to jump Stanford and VT (a certainty) in the Harris and USA Today polls for it to happen.

I predict it's going to be insanely close. Like the late TD by Oklahoma might have stopped 1 or 2 voters from voting OSU over Bama type close.

Question of the night - How many of the voters who were holding OSU back at #5 were doing so simply because they were already factoring in the inevitable OSU loss to OU that we've seen in recent years? Only now they know OSU is legit...and they can slot them properly.

Or, how many voters will now vote either Bama or OSU at #2 and then vote the other one at something below #3 to try to give their #2 a little bit more help?

Also a great question. Will be very interesting to see the votes.

It's gonna be funny as hell watching Saban vote OSU 10th.

Last week Alabama lost two votes despite beating Auburn 42-14 with no one around them doing anything of merit. It's going to be interesting to say the least to see where the votes fall. Palm and Edwards still think Bama is the likely choice, but that is on very tenuous footing at the moment.

Edwards had said earlier in the week that, since OSU would pass Bama in the computer polls, OSU would need to get approximately 25% of the 2nd place votes to pass Bama overall.

On college gameday final, they just said that OSU will need to get 44 2nd place votes out of 174 total voters between the two polls (and 130 3rd place votes)

Right, and every 3rd place vote they don't get (since they need to jump Stanford too) is an extra 2nd place vote they need to pickup.

At this point I think it's going to be ridiculously close but I think it's 55/45 OSU/Bama. Hope I'm wrong.

Yes, Stanford may be more of a problem than Bama for OSU now. Any voter with a brain should have Stanford 4th (or worse) and Bama/OSU in the 2-3 spots, but whether for strategic reasons or whether they actually believe Stanford is 3, some will have them there and likely hurt OSU more than Bama.

Also, congrats to DiegoTiger on your first ACC title in forever. He's a good rival poster and while Clemson fans usually irritate me to no end he's one of the good ones. Enjoy it man, go to MIA and have fun.

iowa state was blown out today, finishing it's conference schedule at 3-6.

I get that Okie State has probably played an overall stronger schedule than Bama.

But the one thing that they can compare head to head on is teams the caliber of Iowa State since they have both played them. Alabama beat all of them, Okie State didn't. Okie State hasn't played anyone close to the caliber of LSU.

I think Bama needs to be ahead of them, and I think it will be a damn shame if people move them down just because they don't want a rematch.

BCS Guru is projecting LSU - Oklahoma State. I have no idea how accurate this guy is but he seems to know what he is talking about.

The final BCS Standings will be close between OSU and Alabama, with the computers unanimously locking in the Cowboys at No. 2 and Alabama at No. 3. And then it would be up to the voters to render their final verdict.

More of them will still have Alabama at No. 2, in both the coaches and Harris polls, but OSU's edge in the computers will be enough to overcome the Crimson Tide's advantage in the two human polls.

I don't know how you can lose to Iowa State and say that you're a better team than a team that lost in OT by a field goal to the #1 team in the country at the time.
