Saturday College Football 12/3

So the OSU football team was so devastated by the plane crash that they promptly rang up a 24-7 lead against a dog shit Iowa State team and then choked? The plane crash was a tragedy. To continue using it as an excuse for a team choking away a football game is tasteless.

In the last 20 games between Alabama and LSU, the home team is 7-13.

A far more telling stat is since 2003 (when LSU became nationally relevant) and it is 4-5. But it isn't really Bama's fault they sucked before Saban and now that he's there he chokes against LSU fairly consistently.

Very, very few people are doing this. I think most everyone's in agreement about this.

I still love the jabs at Iowa State though. I'd wager they're substantially better than LOWF this year.

Disagree. 2003 was when LSU came to prominence, but it's also when Alabama went into a nosedive thanks to probation, Mike Price's drunken escapades, and the disaster of the Mike Shula era. LSU had a similar rough patch in the mid-to-late 90s, so going back twenty years captures both of those periods.

Also disagree that Saban "chokes against LSU fairly consistently". He's 2-3 against them, and they've all been close games decided by a play or two. That's true even for 2007, when LSU won the national championship and Bama was not good.

Any game where they should have won it = choke.

This year and last year they should have won.

Wait, so every upset in college football is considered a choke by the favored team? That's a pretty strict standard.

In these two cases, they are chokes. "They" is referring to the two teams that Bama has put out this and last year.

Last year = Had way better talent and Saban was outsmarted by Miles on some big plays.

This year = Homefield advantage and plenty of opportunities to win.
