Official Bowl Selection Day thread: ACC gets two teams in the BCS. Wake to Nashville.

The ratings will be great. Everyone talks a big game like they are going to skip it.

It's going to be on a night when no other relevant sporting event going on.

It's the freaking championship game. I don't care if it's a 3-0 final. For those that don't want to watch, enjoy the Bachelor with your wife/girlfriend.

Weird thing is, match-up wise, I think OSU would have had a better shot at beating LSU than Stanford. Andrew Luck against OSU's defensive scheme is frightening. Jordan Jefferson, not so much.

Don't be surprised if Ok St gets blown out. Teams that are disappointed with their bowl game usually don't do well. Not like they could get split national championship even if Alabama wins. Becomes interesting if Alabama wins in OT or last second FG if we get a split NC.

Florida coach Urban Meyer said Sunday a rematch between Michigan and Ohio State would be cause for immediate change to the BCS.

"If that does happen, all the [university] presidents need to get together immediately and put together a playoff system," he said. "I mean like now, January or whenever to get that done."

Urban was doing what Saban started doing immediately after he lost, sell your team to the voters. He was like a Frank Meyers commercial for the last month. Gundy was too naive and didn't do that. It probably cost him a few votes.

Forde crushed VT in his column on Yahoo this morning:

The presence of Virginia Tech in a BCS bowl is an absolute, complete and utter travesty. The Sugar Bowl should be ashamed of itself for taking the Hokies over more deserving candidates Boise State and Kansas State.

What did Virginia Tech do to deserve its bid? It played three games against ranked teams – and lost two of them, by a combined 48 points. The lone victory was against Georgia Tech, a team that was No. 21 at the time but resides well outside all top 25s now.

Aside from the Yellow Jackets, here’s who the Hokies beat to earn their bid: Appalachian State, East Carolina, Arkansas State, Marshall, Miami, Wake Forest, Boston College, Duke, North Carolina and Virginia. They beat nobody ranked higher than 45th in Jeff Sagarin’s computer ratings.

Ha, at the moment I posted that, I know for a fact, that I knew as much as or more than RULZ. Just gotta trust my cred, boogity.

I just thought it was funny that a football player's parent knew exactly where we were going and shared that important and accurate information with us. But then a handful of little students wanted to argue about it because they were acquanted with a football player from Spanish 101 class.

Also, the DS board knew which bowl bid we received a full 30 minutes before we did. I guess football parents actually do know a little more than some of our students. LOL

You're a cool guy and this is nothing personal against you, but even you have to admit that this was a little comical.

Except for Phan09 is a bit closer to the program than having an acquaintance w/ a football player from Spanish 101. That's a terrible assumption to make.

This is the ACC's best chance to make some BCS noise since FSU's last appearance in the title game. Michigan and West Virginia are both very beatable opponents.

Yeah they should be good games. Points will be scored, that's for sure. I know WVU is gonna let Geno run.....you know it.....so Clemson better be fucking preparing for it, because they sure as hell didn't seem to prepare for any of the other running QB we faced.

Maybe so. Still the football parents knew where we were headed long before Phan did, so Phan is apparently not THAT close to the football program (although he is a good guy and a good fan). In the future I'll choose to believe the football parents.

Or maybe the football parents are just more willing to post something before it's officially confirmed.

I don't think that was the issue last night. It was more about a handful of students arguing against the Music City Bowl as a way to brag about their "connections" (being classmates with a football player, etc.). It later became obvious who had connection and who didn't.

And I feel bad about using Phan09's post specifically to laugh at because he certainly wasn't the only student bragging about his "connections", but it just so happened that his post was convenience for me to respond to.

I think its cute when students feel important just because they once sat next to an athlete in class.

Oh Boogs,

First of all, I graduated from Wake Forest THREE years ago. So I am definitely not a student. Nor am I friends with any football players.

Not a single time last night did I say we were not going to Nashville. I just wanted to discourage anyone from jumping to conclusions.

The parent's posted last night based on assumptions. That is, of course, their right - just as it is yours to trust them.

I am glad that everything worked out, and I am excited as anyone to watch the Deacs in Nashville.

Honestly what makes Michigan that much more worthy than VT? Their win against Nebraska? They were picked for the exact same reason as VT, their fan base. Yet no one wants to say anything about them because it was generally accepted they were going to the Sugar Bowl ahead of time. Forde can suck a dick.

Pretty sure I was one of only three students to post on the matter and I knew we were going to Nashville almost as soon as the players knew because I got texts from two of them who knew I would want to know. I don't really see your point Boogity...per usual. Did any student (Doofus, CTDeac, or myself) ever say we weren't going to Nashville? I know for a fact I said we were 99.9% sure to go to Nashville and were 100% not going to Shreveport.

Also I agree with Phan completely.
