Deacs Seton Hall Game Thread

We took a lot of good shots and then missed them. Only great teams can win games when having such an off-shooting night, and we are not a great team. Not unhappy with the result.

Nikita was an absolute disaster btw.

Not blaming Bz for everything, just his system which isn't working (and pulls our bigs away from basket = no offensive rebounds) and that the players don't seem to respond to him...and he has a terrible record as a coach. Other than that, he's great!

Example from this game, please?

Seriously, nothing tonight looked like players weren't responding. I would agree about the pulling bigs away from the basket normally, but rebounding was not a problem tonight. I think we actually out-rebounded them in the final stats.

It feels like you're cut-and-pasting BzzOut complaints but didn't actually watch the game.

4 wins. We have 4 wins left in our team for the season. Maybe.

What about this game made you think that? We average 39.9% from beyond the arc, tonight we shot 11%. If we had shot like we normally do that would have been an extra 15 points plus it's always easier to defend after a made basket than a rebound.

I honestly haven't given a fuck about college basketball for 2 years now.

Watch the highlights of the Indiana-UK game to remind yourself what is great about college bball. We'll get back to being relevant in the near future, I have faith.

Encouraging that the guys played hard all night. I've been impressed with their effort all year. Just didn't shoot well and were outmatched by Seton Hall. I feel like I need to type that last sentence ten times to believe it.

Bottom line is this... we have to accept small victories this year. Being competitive? check; Winning more than one ACC game? hopefully.

Accept those small victories, weather the storm that is the past two seasons, and hope to whatever higher power you believe in that the next two seasons will represent dramatic improvement.

Hey easy fellow Texan - I watched the game. We were outrebounded 31 to 23 (this has been a pattern). If you look at their regular fg % (exclude 3s), they had their way with us inside on scoring. We can't win without defense and rebounding. Period. I don't care what kind of system we use. I was not a BZ-outer until the Ariz State game. I don't think this guy is an ACC-caliber coach.

I just don't understand why this game would draw the pessimism out. Immediately we looked absolutely awful for about 7-8 minutes in the first half, but otherwise I was pretty happy with how we played, just not with how many shots actually went through the basket.

We have numerous wins that were worse efforts than this one.

I would be pretty shocked if we only win 4 more games. BC alone should give us two.

On the totem pole of Wake losses in the last two years, this one is not particularly newsworthy.

Based on what? A non-blowout loss on the road to a tournament bubble team, and easily the best team we've played all year?

That's totally rational, you're right.

It's certainly more rational than picking Wake to win in the prediction thread, then rushing for your pom-poms when we underperform your expectations by at least 15 points.

As moronic as the BzzOuters can be (see VTWhat trying to dissect that McKie quote a few days ago), the idiocy displayed by people like RSF is really what's mind-boggling to me. You think we're going to win, go on the record as such, and then when someone else expresses pessimism over our performance, you rush for the excuse book. They're like a blow-up punching bag with a clown graphic on it. You wind up, punch them for all they're worth, and they pop right back up with that same, sappy, shit-eating grin on their face.

If someone expects we're going to lose by 30, and then is happy when it's only 14, that I could understand. But to be encouraged or making excuses when we not only miss, but badly miss your stated expectations is a sign of idiocy, pure and simple.

I know, trust me, I hate to be snotty to a fellow Texan! Especially one from Sugarland (Woodlands resident here).

Biggest upset of the game is that they only had one more offensive board than us. Not sure how that happened.

We seemed to actually leave men back this time. To date, we haven't done that at all, and I actually thought that was by design. Then in the radio show this week Bz said he wants the 3, 4, and 5 to crash the boards. Sure enough, that seemed to happen this week.

I have no idea why it took so long.

It's not just this game. I'd love to be wrong.

If we had a big body to go against Pope, this game would have been drmaatically different.

When you have no big bodies you aren't going to rebound or defend inside well. It's just that simple.
