Basketball Recruiting Megathread 1.0 has run its course

Yeah, Baby any news on the big guys?

There weren't many on the original list.

Why is it ridiculous? They have more opportunity for playing time now that Carson is gone. One less person each of them is fighting for minutes with. Are you using the [Redacted] logic that all the minutes are already set in stone or something?

You don't improve thru not having to fight for minutes. They would have benefited from practicing against a big man that had played two seasons in the ACC.

Losing Carson was not a good thing. No matter how rosy you want your sunglasses to be.

How do I turn on the "curse word" censor? I can't seem to figure that out.

Matt Humphrey averaged 10 points per game for BC and wants to team up with Ernie Kent if he gets a new gig or so ESPN says.

I didn't know who Ernie Kent was so I googled him. Apparently he took the daughter of a prominent booster on a trip to Mexico so he got blown up for having an affair.

Based on previous precedent I'd say that decreases Kent's chances of having a D1 job next year.

Do you have some reason to think he is coming to Wake? The sf/sg position is where we are in relatively good shape.

And how exactly do you know that? Do you know these players? Do you know what methods are the most effective at improving their game? No you don't. Not every player is the same. Some get better quicker by being thrown straight in the fire while others get better by having better/tougher practices. Whether or not the additional playing time will compensate enough for the diminishing quality of practice is not something that anyone can definitively say right now. Yes RJKarl's assertion is equally ridiculous but at least he is looking towards the positive.

The two USC lads that are from NC will be on the market soon, A.Gill and D.Harris as transfers. Getting one or even both of that duo would really help our frontcourt.

God, I wish trades and drafts happened in college basketball.

A little more info on D. Harris... we recruited him heavily out of the Fayetteville area and he would be just what the doctor ordered in terms of a defensive stopper in the middle. In fact he was all SEC defensive team and will be a rising Jr. Both Gill and Harris must secure their release from new USC coach Frank Martin. If they are back on the market expect heavy interest from the big boys because both have proven themselves to be productive players.

In the 70s there was a de facto trade between UNLV and Hawaii. Jimmie Baker was one of the players involved. I forget who the other was.

It doesn't diminish the incoming recruiting class to say that losing 3 scholarship players will hurt the team. It's generally agreed that CMM will be an immediate improvement over TC, but I sincerely doubt that Madison will be a better backup than TC, and I don't think he will provide the same competition in practice that TC would have. There is no purpose in spinning that into a positive.

It's not ridiculous at all. I didn't say the team would be better. All I said was these specific guys would have more opportunity.

don't extrapolate from there. If I had meant it to say something else, I would have said it.

What I said was absolutely accurate.
