Disco Dan Article: Despite setbacks, [Redacted] remains optimistic

MTOW: Winning is a big component of that obviously.

JB: We’re moving forward.

So he's not even willing to say that winning will make the fans come back? Is he hoping the fans will come back because we have nice guys on the team?

The foundation has been established. WITHOUT COMPROMISING OUR VALUES!!11!

Honestly, if someone has problems with Bz's answers in that interview, they're looking for those problems. I'm more encouraged by it than anything else. It doesn't change his failures on the court, and I don't think he'll be able to keep his job long-term, but that was a thoughtful, intelligent, positive interview. He answered some tough questions really well.

That's the best interview I've seen Bz give. Not that I have any confidence in him to provide wins until it shows on the court. But it was a better interview.

Agree, although I would call it his "least worst" interview.

I think you misunderstood that-- I read it as Bzz acknowledging that winning is a part of getting fans in the stadium, and saying that the team will be moving towards that. Of course, it's also a troubling quote because it seems to imply that he wants the current team to be severed from the program's past success. That part of the interview was the most frustrating one for me, but again, it's a tough question, and I'm not really sure what a "good" answer would have been.

"Yes, it will, and we intend to start winning games--and a lot of them--in a hurry." Really had to rack my brain for that one.

I'm not sure how his answer to that particular question was different than yours in their respective implications.

Also: the "We weren't the worst in the ACC" quote is being manipulated here. That wasn't in reference to team performance; it was in reference to schedule strength. As far as I can tell, Bz is under no impression that his team played well last year.

(I should preemptively note, I guess, that I am far from a supporter of Bz, and voted in support of the BzzOut billboard project. FWIW.)

If that were the only time he had used that phrase, I'd possibly agree with you. The problem is that when he says, "We're moving forward," multiple times in an interview, it comes across as "I don't want to talk about that." He could have even said, "The foundation has been established and we can now work on getting those wins," if he wanted to use a catch phrase.

Honestly Cicero couldn't give an interview that would convince anyone that our program is in good shape. Buzz has just been saying the same shit for two years now so he is getting better at it. Program is a joke.

Yeah... I didn't actually count, but this is the short version for his answer to every question. It doesn't make any sense, and it proves to me at least that he doesn't even know his X's and O's. Another great year of lowered expectations, moral victories, and lame ass excuses, here we come!

Dan really asked some pointed questions as recounted in his blog. The stock answer is" we have built the foundation without compromising our values." I have no idea what that means.

Except for that whole keeping Walker after the incident w/ Tabb thing.

We have a two man foundation. One we will lose to graduation after next season. If that isn't an indication of sustainability I don't know what is.

All year it will be "We are very young.....We play 9 freshman and sophmores." This will get very tiring, especially considering that our best player (Travis could be argued) is a senior & making those freshman, sophmores will not be enough to overcome CJ's loss.

Is our attrition rate over the past couple of years the worst in CBB? It has to be up there.

+1

I can't even read this BS anymore. Dan did a great job asking questions, but Buzz is giving the same stupid answers, which could be him or the AD. Either way, I'm embarassed of what our program has become.

When I think about the large incoming class and lack of returning depth, I'm reminded of the 97 class of O'Kelley, Vidaretta, Arinze, etc. I realize the situations aren't the same and I believe this class is rated higher than the 97 class (can't remember that class's ranking). Those 4 years were definitely some tough times but it did pave the way for rebuilding with later additions of Howard and Songailia that culminated with the CP3 period. Of course, there was also a coaching change during that time.

If this incoming class can help us add some stability and competitiveness that helps recruiting and leaves a base for the next coach, I will be happy.

This is a very positive way to look at the next couple of years. Kudos to you for being able to stay positive... I can't anymore.
