Conference Realignment Thread: New B1G divisions

West Virginia wasn't going to put the ACC in any better shape negotiating any of these contracts.

I've seen several posts talking about the unequal revenue sharing in the Big XII. I thought that got scrapped, right? Equal sharing of Tier 1 and Tier 2, but each school does what it can with its Tier 3 rights, so Texas would not be getting any more of a fair share than FSU. Am I just incorrect in thinking they've agreed to the equal sharing after Texas initially was wanting unequal (which was the impetus for them wanting a move to P12)?

And for those dogging Clemson and FSU on anything but the money reasons, I assume you think the same of Missouri and Texas A&M, right? Leaving all natural rivals to play teams that they have virtually no history with (outside of Arkansas) and somehow thinking they will compete better in a tougher league, despite combining for one conference championship in the 2 big sports in the XII. For better or worse, money talks.

State to the SEC??????????/

Smith goes on to speculate that Clemson "will almost certainly pair with Florida State" as teams 11 and 12 in the Big 12. Further, Georgia Tech is talking to the Big 12 too, while Virginia Tech and N.C. State will get scooped up by the SEC. The Big Ten is also picking up Duke, North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland, presumably leaving Boston College, Miami, Wake Forest, Syracuse and Pittsburgh to collect $180 million in exit fees.

All this speculation is dumb dumb dumb. Remember when the sky was falling for the Big 12 and Texas and other schools were going to the Pac 12? That's less than a year ago.

All this speculation means that there are real issues that need to be addressed before some of these dooms day things happen.

You're assuming that the speculation isn't being created by outside sources such as forces that want either the ACC to fail, to use the speculation as leverage in their own negotiations or simply trying to jostle a university free from the ACC.

I keep hearing how bad the ACC commissioner is and how he is in UNC's pocket. Look I hate UNC as much (if not more) than the next guy but what has Swofford really done that's been bad outside of the supposed ACC TV deal which apparently most if not all of the ACC is happy with? All the moves he's made since 2003 have been to better the ACC football footprint and insure the survival of the conference. I'm not sure those correlate to a NC bias much less UNC bias. Unless of course survival of the conference and football expansion is only in UNC/NC School's interests.

The ESPN deal sold all Football AND basketball games so there was no favoritism there. So what's he done that is favorable for UNC or the NC schools? Honest question as I'd like to know why people feel this way.

Yep. The loyalty to ABC/ESPN and Raycom hurts us. We needed to start a "Coast to Coast" Network with the Pac-12.

What if the ACC adds Penn State & Notre Dame this summer? That would make us a very viable network cabable of drawing in big dollars!

Why stop with Notre Dame and Penn State? Let's add the Jets and Patriots too. That would bring in big bucks!!! Why can't Swofford figure this out?

Figure what out? If we hadn't expanded, we would definitely be toast.
