Conspiracy Theories

I had never heard much about TWA Flight 800 before reading the novel "Night Fall" by Nelson DeMille. I'm sure I heard about it at the time, but that was 6th grade for me, and I don't remember it specifically.

Anyway, the DeMille book used the actual flight/crash as a jumping off point for his fictitious conspiracy theory on what brought the plane down and how it was covered up. It was really interesting, and sort of scary to think how this kind of thing could actually be done. Just a few people need to keep quiet. Most of DeMille's books end up leaving me a bit uncomfortable because they are all too realistic.

My best friend loves this stuff. Listens to some radio station every night called Coast to Coast or something like that. They basically try to expose the government an conspiracy theories. I normally laugh off what he tells me, but here's some things I remember:

1. He swears on his life that JFK assassination was staged. Says there's evidence that JWB was set up. Says he worked for the FBI just weeks before the shot was fired and the FBI used him. Also says there's evidence that he was in the break room the whole time.

2. Milk is killing our bodies. Well, not exactly milk, but what they put in milk. Says there were government workers sent to some facility to study the process of pasteurizing milk and within days they quit their jobs and moved out of the US.

3. Aliens have landed on earth. He said he will only listen to "someone that has something to lose" so pretty much only ex military officials. He says there's plenty of them out there with stories saying its happened.

4. The Builderberg Group runs the world, and will soon push for one world government/currency.

5. The Crystal Sculls really exist and have powers when all are brought together.

6. Some sort of alien bacteria exists in a lake on the west coast. Says the bacteria lives off of arsenic, which kills everything else that we know of as humans.

With all that being said, do some research on something called: "The Starchild Skull". That's his favorite story to tell.

Wait wait wait...the crystal skulls from the Indiana Jones flick? The only thing that movie should lead you to believe is that Shia Lebeouf is a terrible actor.

John Wilkes Booth? That must have been quite the set-up.

The theories about there being cures for diseases that are being hidden by the government and big Pharma make me want to pull my hair out. Those never make any sense to me at all. I even heard a guy tell a friend of mine that pharma companies have underground prisons where they imprison research scientists.

Well they make sense for the pharma companies to not push through. Treating symptoms and keeping people alive is a lot more profitable than eradicating a disease.

The NBA fixed the initial lottery to get Patrick to the Knicks.

Marissa Tomei didn't really win her Oscar.

This doesn't make any sense, either. There would be billions to be made off a cure. People would line up out the door for the cancer/aids/common cold cure. Pharma companies make money today selling vaccines for illnesses we cured decades ago. The notion there isn't just as much money in a cure as there is in a treatment is just silly to me. Even if company X decided they didn't want to develop and sell a cure, their competitors over at company Y would stop at nothing to get their hands on it, sell it, and eat up all of company X's market share.

Remember, people don't stop having disease because we develop a cure. They'd STILL have to pay for the cure just the same as they would the treatment.

Wait, so what's the 9/11 conspiracy theory exactly? That the towers came down from within or that Bush did it or what?

I don't believe in any conspiracy theories. The JFK one makes the most sense though because it is feasible that there could have been more than one shooter and I think ballistic tests showed some evidence of that too (could be wrong here).

I saw some report or theory on JFK, that seemed pretty realistic that LHO took the initial shots but the death blow was from a Secret Service agent who got spooked or something.

This is true for some things, but there is more money long term in NOT curing a disease like AIDs than curing it. It is a disease that people can live years with if they have the medication and eradicating people wouldn't keep getting it, it would be gone.

Note: I am not saying this is the case. I work with enough pharma clients to know that it is more of a problem with research cost and getting stuff to market for 99% of drugs. I am just making the argument for why it could be believable.

Well.... Starchild skull.... http://www.starchildproject.com/

This is hilarious

I could be convinced on the Pennsylvania flight being shot down. If the passengers re-took the plane, wouldn't they have at least attempted to land it? Seems like there would either be a) another commercial pilot on board hitching a ride b) someone with at least a pilot license or c) they manage to talk to air traffic control and be taught the rudimentary skills to at least try and land.

Just not sure the passengers would re-take the plane only to immediately nosedive it into the ground.

President Palmer was not killed on order of President Logan but in fact it was Aaron the secret service agent who wanted to frame logan so he could score with Mrs. Logan

There were several eyewitnesses of the TWA 800 crash who swore up and down that they saw something shoot up from the ocean and hit that plane.

The passengers never regained control of the plane. They were in the process of breaking into the cockpit when the hijackers decided to put the plane into the ground. This was confirmed by the cockpit voice recorder.

That's what they want you to think!
