DNC Live Commentary

He's in 2nd line if Romney wins, that's closer than him being a member of the House, duh. Plus he's a leading candidate for Speaker now AND could be the candidate in 2016.

You're voting Romney, hoping he William Henry Harrisons?

I'm voting Romney because he can do a better job than our current guy. I hope he's Prez for 8 years, grooming Ryan for another 8 years and America comes out better than ever.

Hey if Obama wins, I hope we sill come out better than ever but I just feel like its gonna take us a bit longer w/ the Dems in the WH.

CNN just stated that Romney's the 1st candidate since 1952 to not to make any mention of the current war.

Where did all the irrational Pubs go?

The Dems put on a better convention than the GOP. Better set design, better crowd interaction, better themes, better program of speakers.

It was a good speech but with all the great speeches this week, it was overshadowed.

read the link. he was referring to jimmy john specifically. i'll let my friend patrick explain if you need further clarification.

Did you read the article? I don't think you get what is so bad about that line if you did. The author is completely clueless. Let me break it down.
Mr. Romney encouraged the students in the room to follow Mr. John’s path. “Take, take a shot, go for it. Take a risk. Get the education. Borrow money if you have to from your parents. Start a business.”

Of course, not every $20,000 loan turns into a business with 1,200 franchises, but Romney’s point was taking a risk and borrowing to invest in a business or an education is a good idea, and he’s precisely right to suggest that young people should look first to their families, rather than the government, for support in those endeavors.

Many of us don't have parents who can afford a $20,000 loan. Heck, back when I was a kid with a nice higher 3 figures savings account because I didn't have anything to spend money on aside from some Nintendo games, my parents, two teachers in Eastern NC used to come to me to borrow a $100 or so here and there to help pay the bills. The idea of looking to families first is comical for many Americans. And that doesn't even include people from single-parent homes or students with deadbeat parents who are effectively on their own.

The author completely misses this and goes off on some tangent about the effectiveness of small business loans.

But most important, those of an entrepreneurial age don’t have this wealth, but their parents do: While the median household net worth of people under 35 is just $9,300, those 55–64 have a net worth of $179,400, and those 65–74 are worth $206,700. Considering families with children, one should also increase these numbers by about 15 percent, because that’s the average of all households, and married couples are worth about that much more than the average household.

Romney was talking to students. Most of their parents are a little younger than 55-64. I'll be that age when my boys are in college, but many parents are younger, especially those of lower socioeconomic status. Heck, I know several people my age with kids in high school and college. They aren't anywhere near that net worth. Anyway median net worth means half above and half below.

Anyway, you really don't get what is so bad about that line. Now if Romney had said, "If you're fortunate enough to have parents with that kind of money, borrow from your parents."

Really wish I could of watched the last two nights. Sucks I was moving and missed Fox News' turn to HATE HATE HATE. This is my favorite part of the campaign.

Nope. The RNC left things wide open for the Democrats to slam the door shut.
